Duh!!! The show is fiction; of course it's not real. So what? I still enjoy it.

Other movies ( & some TV shows) used satellite phones. "Sahara" <fiction> used a Sat-phone during boat chase scene.

I also understand that sat-phones are widely used in the middle East and Africa. The service is very pricey I hear.

The last episode conclusively proved that the lost
island is in some type of time warp. So these are
"Time Warp" phones that can call up people in the
past or the future. The fat guy is my favorite!!!

Actually, they do make GPS walkie talkies that you can talk 2 mile distances or track each companion's coordinates. You can even follow their previous path several days later, checkpoint by checkpoint. True satellite phones are something like $300 but actual talk time is very very expensive.

The service can be pricey but if you are going on vacation and would like to try one, we rent international cell phones and satellite phones. check our site http://www.maxwellcell.com

Yes, satellite phones do exist. I have a satellite phone because I travel all over. They range from about $300 for an average phone but they can cost in the low thousands for phones with more features.

Minutes are very expensive.$3+/minute in SOME areas.
