Finally. I can't help but think of the finale of "Long Time Companion" when they DO find the cure for AIDS and all the dead friends "come back" from the dead to celebrate. It makes me cry every time I think of it.

At $10k per year, I don't think that it will do much good among the population that is seeing the highest rates of infection.

I agree but this is still very good news.

I've never seen it. Now I plan to find it. Thanks.

It's worth seeing, but make sure you have a box of Kleenex by your side!

Drug companies don't reduce their prices until they've made a significant profit from the drug. Human decency is unimportant to them.

Solution: Let them make a significant profit by deliberately infecting all the wealthy people with HIV. Once the rich have paid for the pill, the prices will drop.

Of course, I'm joking about the deliberate infection of the rich, no matter how good an idea it might be. But I'm not joking when I say that the drug companies would rather let millions of people die by preventable disease than break even on a medicine.

If you don't believe me, just look what they did with malaria medicines in Africa (i.e. they didn't make any because it wasn't profitable) and what they did with prescription drugs in the US (i.e. overcharge people and force millions to buy drugs from Canada, where the drug companies STILL make a profit).
