I hope we get everyone back to work as soon as possible. Just saw a bunch of people getting physicals at med center.

I'm sure the mention of caterpillar and the wage difference is for a purpose. It's no secret that Ge wants to reduce labor costs in Erie.( remember the tent ) many of our brothers and sisters have already accepted the 2 tier pay system. They also will try to force feed us the new health ( lack of care ) plan. Ge Erie also wants to eliminate the 10% shift bonus. They have accomplished this with our other union plants , by promise of new jobs and not eliminating any current ones. So I guess that's what will be hashed out in the end. Promise of jobs and job security in exchange for all the concessions!

-I am certain that some of these issues will be coming up this spring/summer, however two things going in our favor somewhat is that work IS picking up,and the shop is very top heavy with people near retirement, roughly 1000 in next 5-6 yrs,if not more!
Last contract all I heard was doomsday scenarios were likely, and at worst that ended up a push-lets hope its similar this time......
two-tier pay scales seem to be the kiss of death for a plants longevity once implemented

Not sure how the Union Negotiates a 5 year call back right for the april layoffs yet we have no call back rights. Anyone care to take a stab at this one?

Did you have a coded job or were you in temporary position while you worked at GE? If you did not have a coded job prior to being laid off, you have 5 years call back rights to any open jobs as they come up after all others who have at least one code under their "belt". My understanding is that the 80 employees laid off in 4/09 did not have any code to their name. So that means after these call backs for the 280 employees, those 80 people will be next to be called back BEFORE anyone off the street would be hired (anyone, which of course means they would have to apply are Career Link). While I can not guarantee a call back date, as I have said before I am confident that all will be back soon enough.

I have to say this again, if you have any questions, contact your union hall. There is too much mis-information being posted. I try to put as much factual info as I can but that is based off of what I know, what I see, and how things have happened in the past. I am happy to share what I can but if I paid union dues, I would be getting as much of my moneys worth as I could. I would recommend Mike Hayes as the person to talk with, he is the chief steward.

You have heard many times, you just need to be patient. You will get a call back, I am sure of that

sorry, but no-and even if I wanted that position, your mother has service on all of us,and she has that position, along with many others-booked better than the company does when it comes to work;rest assured,chief-I hear she's getting doubles o' plenty in those stalls,so you may still get your Hello Kitty video game by Easter time.......
-and,the fact of the matter is that You were wrong, didnt know what you were talking about, and were ashamed to admit it-the end,for now......
Sincerely,Robb (bdg 5)
