Greene County couple dead in murder suicide

A Greene County couple died late Saturday afternoon in what authorities are terming a murder/suicide. Greene County Sheriff Steve Burns said the dead are Roger Gosnell, 45, and Sherry Gosnell, 41.

Sherry was not the only vicitm and i think a furthur interview with his mother and family would be in order. Roger was a good man and father!!..He was also a good brother and friend!! He was the victim of Sherry too! Yes what Roger did was wrong but he was not the only one at fault here! Sherry stole $13000 off of him. I just think the other side of the family needs to have their time to tell their story as well as hers. Not to mention that they only knew Roger for about 3 months so how can they know everything about him.

This might be a better time to mourn the loss of this couple than to count their sins, especially on a public forum. All you can accomplish is to cause even more pain to those who loved them.

thank you nightserf for your comment it does make it harder on the familys..i know it is mine..my brother was a good man that made a bad decision and hes not with us anymore..but it still doesnt help the family to hear their son, brother, father, or friend slandered on the news!!

roger was kind ,sweet /he would help anyone who needed help.that sorry user/thief just drove him crazy.he wasn't the kind of man to do something like this.i'm so sorry for the family .and for myself to. i will never get to see his sweet face or hear him . it wont be long i will be with him. i just pray to the lord to take care of him till i get there. dear god please help his family and give them some kind of peace. my love to all who knew him.

I'm sorry for the two lives that were lost here. They both loved and was loved by many. It seems to me that you are blaming Sherry("that sorry user/thief just drove him crazy") then you say Dear God please help his family. God is not a condeming God. During this time of loss we should pray for both families in mourning.

i am sorry for her family and there lost . yes i'm blaming her if she didn't love .she could have just left him .she didn't have to take everything from him. everyone is putting all the blame on him i know him that wasn't like him.i loved him and i will see agan.what is right about that.

I am sorry that this family is going through this. I know you say it wasnt like him, but unfortunately people keep and hide secrets all of the time. It may not have been like him, but in the end it was him. Again, I am sorry for the family here -ALL- of the family involved.

no he was a kind loving man me took up for me when my old man was to beat on me he treated me like a person .i was just a dog to everybody made me feel like was a dog.he gave me hope he showed me someone did care he did .i think i knew one pretty good .she drove him to it. i'm sorry for her family because of there pain but anyone who knew roger know that wasn't him .i miss him /i love him!

You should pray for Sherry's young daughter, brother, sister and parents. While you are singing this psychopaths praises, maybe you would like to know that he also had 2 other restraining orders against him from 2 other women, and the one Sherry had on him would make 3.

Thank you friend of sherry for sheding a little light on the subject. The police reports are there for anyone that wants to know the truth. I will be praying for sherry's daughter, as well as rogers children. They are the one's that will be suffering for a long time to come.

He busted her ribs, she said if you hit me again I'll leave. He smashed her eardrum, she left, filed for divorce and he didn't like it. Hothead obviously.

As a family member I would like to correct your quote of numbers. There were NOT 3 RO's against Roger. Also, you forgot to mention that this was not the first husband or man that she had stolen from. Had he only known in the beginning.... However, you also forgot to mention that her own daughter would not even speak to her. You see, the lawyer that was on retainer did an investigation of his own, and therefore we have many tidbits of information about Sherry that most would consider just as unmentionable. As most people know, courthouse records, warrants for a person's arrest, shady title transfers....are all available to the public. Need I go on?

Actually, there was never any trip to the ER, Dr.'s office, or even Urgent Care. The busted ribs, as you called them, were self-diagnosed by HER. She actually had busted her eardrum a few years ago. While standing on THEIR front porch in front of a few people, she was offered an opportunity to pack up if she so wanted while there were witnessess to watch her take her belongings in peace and she said she did not want to leave. All the while she had 2 different Real Estate Agencies to come and appraise the family homeplace, because after 3 weeks she was, and I quote, "tired of living so far from town". What kind of person would even consider something of that nature? The same kind of person that stole from her last two husbands....or was I not supposed to have mentioned that. Sorry!

no ,we just care about each other .the only reason i wasn't, is that we live 2 different kind of life .but that didn't mean we couldn't care about each other. and i told him that i love him .i would have done anything for him. he was where i could alway get a hold of him if i need him . we were just close close friends.i just couldn't live his life style /he couldn't live my . that was the kind man he was ! understanding ,kind ,sweet ,helping, and most of all loving. i will never care for anyone the way i did him. i will always love him .

I believe Roger was a good man as well. As a matter of fact I did call The Greeneville Sun. I asked them why they only reported one side of this story. Under certain circumstances anyone can snap. He couldn't take it anymore. It doesn't mean he was a violent murderer! She was a fraud from the moment he met her. She scammed & used him. He was a victim too. Just like all those other men who came before him. I'm just sorry she took a good man out. His biggest crime was loving her, and thinking she loved him.
