Cedar Fair Throws in the Beach Towel

It makes sense on paper: Regional park operator Cedar Fair is tearing down most of its struggling Geauga Lake amusement park on the outskirts of Cleveland. via Motley Fool

Yes maybe they were loosing revenue, but Cedar Fair should have promoted it better...publicized it as a "sister" park for Cedar Point.
While economically it may sound like a good move, for all of us who have grown up with Geagua Lake Park it is sad to see it go.

It is very sad to see it go. I absolutely loved the Villian. The water park is alot of fun, but with Cedar Point being hours away from where I live, I'll never get to ride roller coasters now. I loved Geauga Lake =(

Yes, it is sad to see Geauga Lake go, but it was even sadder to see how it was allowed to fall into disrepair these last few years. I had the opportunity to take my son there three years ago after Cedar Fair purchased Geauga Lake from Six Flags. It looked like the only thing that changed was that the Warner Bros. characters and all the indicia were removed, leaving holes in the scenery and many broken props. Many of the rides weren't operational that my son could ride on (he was only five)and the ride operators were very discourteous. You weren't permitted to bring in outside food and had to purchase their crappy food. What's more, I had been given free passes to get into the park, yet had to pay $10.00 to park. All in all my "free" excursion to the park cost me more than $40.00 for very few rides that my son could go on, with or without me.

Sea World used to be a nice place too several years ago when HBJ owned it, although that's another story.
