Rides Shut After Ky. Six Flags Accident
Six Flags and Cedar Fair shut down eight more thrill rides around North America on Friday after a teenage girl's feet were sliced off during a ride in Kentucky.

I've always told my wife that I had a fear of these thrill rides, and now I know why. I had heard a cable snapped and took off the girl's feet. Jeez, what would be more frightening than this? Perhaps the next ride will be some form of bucket type carrier that at the end will deposit the patrons into a tank full of great white sharks and venomous sea snakes, and they have to swim out of the tank. Maybe on Disney's Pirate of the Carribean, the Pirates will hack people to bits, cool!

We need more info, but they should know if someone can get there feet cut off. if a 13 year can't be but so tall than it must have been known that this could happen.

We take our lives in our own hands on thrill rides such as this one. I suppose the belief is, "if we build it, they will come to ride it." A great many of us forget we are responsible for our own safety in these rides for the "fearless", no matter how safe a company reports a thrill ride to be. I am sure many thrill seekers will stop and consider the risks for a moment or so, and then scoff and say, "aw, that won't happen to me." Believe it or not, my son and his wife, and young daughter are at Six Flags over Georgia today. I told him about this incident and cautioned him not to ride one, if it was there. I had read an earlier report this morning. He likes thrill coasters. I am sure he will heed the advice, especially for his wife and child. I pray for this young girl who lost her feet and I hope she will survive this terrible tragedy in mind and body! Thankfully, the rides have been shut down and are being closely inspected. Such a tragedy for a few seconds of thrills. I for one, have a fear of heights and anything which throws me around like a rag doll, I do not ride at an amusement park! Even when I was younger, I did not tempt fate!

Hoosier momma,Hoosier daddy cause they sure aint around to watch their kid while online. |
Apparentlyyou have fears of more than thrill rides. You seem to be so afraid of life that all you can do in your two posts is to ridicule both a child and a company for a terrible -- but, overcomeable -- accident. Neither the girl nor the company "asked" for this to happen; and, I am sure neither of them would have. May your life experiences soften your heart and strengthen your sole. Otherwise, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your body. |
|
Wow, no kidding? Are you really, really certain that they didn't ask for this to happen, cause I'd be certain they did. MY SOLE< you mean like the soles of my FEET>? YEP, had fleas before, no big deal. |

My hopes are for this young woman who life has been crippled by a stupid amusement ride. This is something too horrible to really comprehend. A lifelong handicap caused a what was designed to thrill.
I pray this woman can hear the world's support and rise above this tragedy. |

I believe every state has different laws about amusement rides. But common sense says all rides should be thoroughly inspected before being run. I do not believe this was done.
Praying for the young lady this terrible tragedy happened to. |
|
Excuse the pun, but now, hard to rise above it. |

Bless her little heart...such a senseless tragedy..so young..still a baby..only 13. I have asked my family members time and time again to stay off of these stupid thrill rides...you are given only one life, why mess around with it? I'm sure there are more constructive ways to get your thrills--and, far less dangerous.

What a sick and callous comment! Do you have any feelings at all in your selfish cold heart? Would you like to be that poor girl right now? It could happen to you just as easily. Develop some human compassion before it's too late for you my friend. |

this is a tragedy . that poor child , im hopeing someone will take responsibility for this , but we know they wont . i hope the parents sue for millions.

yea, i always knew nothing good could come out of that ride. ive feared it for years.

I think it,s time to evaluate what we think
is more important. These high dollar "fun" parks or the health of our children!!! |
|
|
Millions may pay this poor girls medical bills but there is a lot more here than just financial need there is emotional trauma too - and the girl won't be the only one hurting. There will family, friends, employees at the park and witnesses who will have to live with this memory for the rest of their lives. Money is a component but it won't solve much (not even millions!)- sad to say. I hope all involved are able to find some hope and peace through all of this.

I happen to know theowners of this area park (don't know if they own all of them tho)for about 10 years..very nice people who tal ked about safety factors at the park..(one of which is near an airport I used to fly out of)They were quite'real people' tho VERY rich..and said that safety was the most important thing with THAT kind of a 'People'business..but quote'still on occasion 'things happened' because some people just 'don't listen'etc' Hopefully THAT was not what happened here..but it was simply some sort of a glitch..!DEVESTATING THO.

This is truly a very tragic and incomprehendable event. I have been on this ride many times and other "thrill" rides--and, I am shock that this has occurred. I can not imagined how this has happened. As horrible as this is, I can not say this one incidence will prevent me from in the future from enjoying so called "thrill" rides. We should remember that accidents like this are rare occurences. I hope the best possible recovery for this young girl--and a reminder, "What doesn't kill us--makes us stronger."
"Good luck, young lady," I say. I hope with your recovery you become a stronger person then you ever imagined yourself before this. Don't let this cripple your spirit--rise above the physical setback and DO NOT listen to anyone who says "You Can't." Because YOU CAN and SHOULD always do anything you want to do. |

They might invent a ride similar to sliding down a razor blade into a vat of rubbing alcohol or sliding down sandpaper into a vat of salt. Both might be for masochists only. |
