NO bail, NO bond, NO extradition - he's a flight risk (no pun). Let him out of the country and you'll have no way to prosecute him except assassins.

AND, until things have been determined, and he's been properly questioned and examined, keep him around or he'll be beyond reach. Released on bail, he'll be on a free flight back to france SO fast you'll hear the sonic boom. And the current American 'government' won't want to insult france by asking for his return - not that france will would do it freely: just look at their record of returning children kidnapped by divorced parents.
