Bsp. Robinson no ecumenical visitor: he has an agenda

Episcopal Bishop Vicky Gene Robinson did a little denominational line crossing Sunday in Pittsburgh where he was lauded as "one of the great innovators of Christianity" and received a standing ovation.

Robinson, whose own consecration as the first openly homosexual Episcopal bishop, sent shock waves through the Anglican Communion leading to an open fracturing of the nearly 500 year old religious body and a distancing of worldwide Anglicanism from the American Episcopal Church ...

from virtueonline:

"The Episcopal bishop is not a 'great innovator of Christianity' he has become an inventor of religion where Christ is ultimately dethroned and sex is enthroned with homosexual activity being venerated and praised as the ultimate goal of human relationships.

"'The work I think you have done creates much confusion in the Presbyterian Church,' he told his Presbyterian friends.'And let me tell you that confusion is a huge step forward from certainty.'"

So our God is now a god of confusion?

I talked with the Rev. Susan Russell....they don't read that crap from David Virtue. Let him spew all he likes....we don't read it either because it isn't about the Episcopal Church.

Prayer of Sir Frances Drake which closed the opening remarks by House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson at today's General Convention:

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
with the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wilder seas
Where storms will show Your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.

We ask you to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push back the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

This we ask in the name of our Captain,
Who is Jesus Christ.

Francis Drake,an adventurer and essentially a legal pirate (What else is a second son supposed to do to make a living?), wrote this prayer as he departed Portsmouth on the Golden Hind to raid Spanish gold on the west coast of South America. He ventured at least as far north as the non-Spanish parts of California, claiming it as "New Albion" - New England- and returned to his Queen (the long way - via circumnavigation) with loot worth over a half million pounds sterling, and received his Knighthood for it.

So Bishop Robinson doesn't serve in TEC?

Our priests are often guests at other denominations. For Psalm Sunday we have a multi-denominational service in the town square complete with someone riding a beast of burden.

You are one bitter and sick and demented and lonely person. I'll pray for you.

Mr. Null Set aka Nemo to you or your buddies in the Global South have any actual articles on TEC's General Convention being held now Mr. Editor (or Current Occupant)?

Give Big Pete Akinola a big hug and kiss from us all. We will all politely refrain from saying where you like to give him that kiss because we are 'nice' Episcopalians'; but you go for the gusto girl friend!
