American Airlines change is 'chaos'

American Airlines management can not run a one car funeral. Never could never will.
And as they are so inept and incompetent, the one thing they do have to try to run something, anything , with any type of professionalism, is it's workers and the management will not do it.
The management there feels that they run the show, and the workers cannot be trusted and have no creditability, thusly, the workers are never consulted about anything. This is why the company loses money year after year.
Keep in mind, American's management's mindset is, " The management of the company is here to keep the inmates (non-management employees) from running the prison. This was told to me by the manager of labor relations in 1986 at the TULE base, and nothing has changed to this day.

You have NO idea. The only way to deal with the frustration that comes with caring is to develop apathy. If you let yourself get frustated by the fact that the tools you need to do the job to make our customers happy have been taken from you due to incompetence you will be a miserable person. The only way to survive is to do what you can with what you're given and tell yourself that it is not your fault. I have never said "f#*k it" so many times in my life as I have in the last couple years. If those who sit in the seats of power do not care there is nothing the little man can do about it. David may have slain Goliath with a rock, but the rock bounces off of the heads here and all they do is ask, what was that?...... oh look a chicken.(A.D.D.) Disclaimer.... I apologize to those who suffer with ADD, unlike AMR management, it is not a joke

Still the rumors of a USAirways and American merger are still stewing out there. Could this be the next big Airline to emerge in the weak and over charging airline industry? You make the call. Airlines are finding anyway they can to turn a dollar and seeing how these are the last two of the Legacy Airlines left, it is just a matter of time before some meetings take place, if they haven't already began.

PROST, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. WHEN I WENT TO WORK FOR AAL IN 1986, I HONESTLY FELT THE COMPANY COULD DO NO WRONG. I ACTUALLY EXPECTED TO SPEND THE REST OF MY AVIATION CAREER THERE.
SOON AFTER STARTING THE JOB, I FOUND OUT WHY THE COMPANY HAS A LITTLE FORM CALLED AN A.O.I.-
AVOID ORAL INSTRUCTIONS. THEY HAVE THOSE FORMS BECAUSE THE VAST MAJORITY OF MANAGEMENT TYPES I MET THERE IN TULE COULD NOT BE TRUSTED AND HAVE NO PROBLEM LYING TO YOUR FACE !
SO, ALONG WITH BEING INCOMPETENT, THEY CAN'T EVEN BE TRUSTED WHICH IS WHY THEY HAVE THE A.O.I., AS MANAGEMENTS WORD MEANS NOTHING.
NOW FAST FORWARD TO 1990. MR. CRANDALL WAS GIVING HIS YEARLY STATE OF THE COMPANY MEETING IN TULE, I THINK IT WAS IN HANGAR 2A, WHEN HE TOLD ALL THE MECHS GATHERED THERE, " THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE PRINTING MONEY, INSTEAD WE ARE BARELY MAKING A PROFIT. WE NEED TO MAKE THE CHANGES WE NEED TO HERE, STOP THE WASTE, ROCK THE BOAT, DO WHAT YOU CAN TO MAKE THE COMPANY BETTER. JUST BECAUSE IT'S BEEN DONE THAT WAY FOR 60 YEARS, IF IT IS WASTEFULL AND COSTS THE COMPANY MONEY, CHANGE THAT PROCEDURE."
SO WHAT DOES ONE DO NOW? WORK FOR THE CEO AND DO WHAT HE SAYS OR JUST KICK BACK AND LET THE WASTE AND MISMANAGEMENT CONTINUE?
I CHOSE TO WORK FOR MR. CRANDALL AND AMERICAN AIRLINES AND TRY TO MAKE THE COMPANY BETTER.
WHAT DID I GET FOR BEING LOYAL TO MR. CRANDALL? THE LAZY, NO GOOD, WORK 2 HOURS A DAY MECHS THAT ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING THEIR PAYCHECKS EVERY OTHER THURSDAY ARE STILL WORKING AT AMERICAN AIRLINES AND I'M NOT DUE TO THE HARASSMENT THE MANAGEMENT AT TULE GAVE ME.
PLUS TO SALT TO THE WOUND, THE MOST USELESS MANAGER THAT BASE OF TULE EVER HAD WHO COULD NEVER GET A PLANE OUT ON TIME, HAD UNION PROBLEMS WITH EVERY LINE HE RAN, WAS THE LAZIEST MECHANIC AT AAL WHEN HE WAS A MECH AND HAD NO PROBLEM CALLING THE AIRCRAFT MECHS WHO WORKED FOR HIM "DRONES" IN FRONT OF PEOPLE DURING MAINTENANCE MEETINGS WAS PROMOTED TO BASE V/P SO HE COULD SPREAD HIS BAD ATTITUDES THROUGOUT THE COMPANY. If you are saying things are worse there at AAL now than they were whe I worked there, I truly am sorry to hear that and get no enjoyment out of hearing it. I would have hoped after losing all the billions the current management has in the past 10 years, 2 and 2 would have added up to 4 and the directors would have canned all the people they have running they company now and bring someone in who knows how to manage people.
I truly hope the company turns around. Bye.
