Great... East Penn bank used to be awesome but started to go downhill when Harleysville took them over. I just can't wait to see what else is now going to happen. Ugh.

No, Harleysville Savings Bank is not the same as Harleysville National Bank. PLEASE don't confuse the 2 since HSB has a better track record!

Lehigh Valley needs a $5 billion + deposit holding bank corporation HQ here in the Lehigh Valley. The choice is limited to Bank of America or Wells Fargo/Wachovia or Banco Santander/Sovereign.

There is NO entrepreneurial local capital market for origination or loan syndication. You have to depend on credit policy of HQ in some far off location that does not do entrepreneurial capital. Lehigh Valley needs its version of Silicon Valley Bank.

Closest thing around now might be Conestoga Bank, Chester Springs.
