FirstMerit Corp. reported net income of $30.3 million, or 38 cents a share, for the third quarter, a 3 percent drop from a year ago.

the profits are not in line with the $37 they charge for overdrafts I get. Yes it's my fault, for not being accurate in my accounting. I'll be moving to a better bank soon, the old First National Bank of Akron, is sadly missed. These take overs of small town banks will never be a profit, and good, the average family, might make mistakes in the electronic age of banking.....send them on their way.....good riddance

I was thinking the same thing, the overdraft profits are ridiculous. I switched to a credit union after 11 years at Bank one/Chase, and lo and behold not one overdraft at the credit union a year and a half later.
