Power production is a regulated side of the energy production business. That means that the company "can make a profit" or well "has to make a profit". Any charges they occur just get passed on to us in one form or another. Over what, some fish? There is no perfect alternative, and I do not believe environmentalists see that.
Wind farms are horribly inefficient and their part are toxic, they kill flocks of birds
Solar panels...they are just plane toxic, and produce a lot of waste int he production cycle
Coal....dirty...requires cooling towers
Natural gas...clean, costly....requires cooling towers
Nuclear...clean...costly... over regulated... our best alternative ...requires cooling towers.
There is not perfect solution, in fact there truly is no "green" solution.
We can mitigate many of the damages we do, but to raise red flag every time a few animals are displaced, well, thats not the world we live in.
