I believe the Egyptian antiquities chief, Zahl Hawass is absolutely in the right when he insists that his country's material culture deserves to be either in a museum or back home in his country. His demand might sound radical in a country where everything is being privatized--from the Iraq War to border-fence building to the ownership of other people's antiquities; but Hawass speaks for all former colonial subjects who have had their indigenous culture ripped off by culture vultures and art marketeers. the Exelon CEO may feel he has done something benevolent by sharing his private property with the Egyptians, but he is the one who has benefitted from such a valuable learning experience: discovering that his expensive art-object is another man's home-grown heritage. Hawass' chutzpah must be applauded by all peoples who have lost their culture legacy, but now have an example of what they too can do to retrieve what rightfully belongs to their country and to their people. I speak as a former Arts Reporter for the leading East African media group, The Nation Group, based in Kenya.

Rowe should have donated all his Egyptian antiques as he has stolen enough money from the ComEd rate payers over the past few years that paid for those relics as well as the trips East to seek and purchase them.
