Husband has my info in his Evernote folder - how?

I recently opened my husband's Evernote app on his iPhone, because I had never seen Evernote and was curious as to what it was.
Inside I found a folder with my husband's name on it - there were 5 files, and to my surprise, one of the files was an image of MY Facebook Message Inbox.
We keep our FB accounts separate, and he does not know my password. I have nothing to hide, but have to admit I was irritated that I would see this information on his phone in this app.
He claims to have no knowledge as to how this got into that folder - swears he didn't do it, and has suggested all sorts of scenarios which make no sense to me. Bottom line: he claims this somehow mysteriously happened and he had nothing to do with it. I think that defies all logic entirely. The dates on the messages in the image were 10/13/11 - recent enough for him to remember if he'd had something to do with this.
I am not familiar with Evernote and I do not have it on my iPhone. I am not even sure exactly what it is or what it does. I don't know if what I saw was an image of my Facebook inbox, or a link, or what. I deleted it pretty quickly because I was so shocked at what I was seeing.
I'd love it if someone could explain what Evernote is and how it is used. Can it be used as spyware of some sort? Can anyone explain why my FB messages were stored in my husband's Evernote folder?
Sidenote: we are trying to recover from an affair that HE had, which ended 5 months ago. This is why I am so shocked that he would have MY inbox information stored on his phone. It's like he's spying on ME. I need to know how this happened, if anyone can help. Thank you.
