I hope it passes. I work in labor and delivery.Ideally its one nurse to 2 labor pt's. Unfortunately we end up taking around 4 to5 and I hate to admit it,but the nursing care sucks becuase of the ratio-contrary to the director's belief I only have 2 hands.Yes of course they get their meds and so forth but we are in and out the pt's room.

They make it so damn hard to get accepted into the nursing program and once accepted, the classes are so hard that many students end up dropping out. And they wonder why there is a shortage??????

Check archives of Arizona Republic Jan 21st for an article detailing hospital budget cuts in Phoenix leaving Nursing School graduates without the job prospects they thought would be waiting for them.
AZ seems to have a surplus and TX a shortage. Might it make sense to recruit there?

Yes, the hospital I "worked" at had said such committee in northeast part of Texas. I would go from 9 patients to 12 patients to see after. When you complained, guess what, management let you go, or it gets so bad you quit. The floor I worked on lost me, and two other nurses on days. Oh and overtime, we were forced not to work over, if you did, and you do it six times, you were terminated.
A lose lose situation. This facility was supposedly one of the top 10 places to work. Still scratchin my head on that one.
