Perry should be impeached! Under his rule we have had the Texas Youth Corrections facilities scandal, and just recently, the U.S. Justice Department has concluded it's investigation of the Texas 'state schools' for the disabled and found them to be violating the residents Constitutional and civil rights...scandals, scandals, scandals. Perry doesn't give a rat's butt about anyone but his rich campaign contributors and special interest groups!!!!!!!!!!

else besides Perry and Mayor Cook. We need a mayor that is going to stand up to Austin, not go on a singing tour when he's in a manic phase.
It is that "stand up to Austin" mentality that has helped El Paso so well in the past. NOT!!! In Austin, they can spot someone with a chip on his/her shoulder a mile away. It is usually someone from El Paso whining about something.

well well well. things just got interesting as Kay Bailey started to run. Hell I'll vote Democrat but if she beats Perry Id still take it as a win.
Since Perry has been in office, Texas has become a corporations wet dream, TX always bows in the presence of big business, whether it be oil or private prisons.
Thats why we have the best economy, what this article doesn't say is how we have the worst health insurance/coverage in the entire US, some of the worst paid teachers, the worst drop out rates, and how tuition is becoming to high.
Like Hell he's done his job. I dont know why we cant get rid of this loser. Seems like red TX knows how to pick lame ducks [W].
Hey, you liberal nut case, it is not the government's responsibility to provide you with health insurance. You are in a town where Spanish is the default language in most retail establishments. It just follows that there will be high drop out rates, and low salaries. What is El Paso doing to help itself? We are touting our wonderful bilingual programs!!!! Get a brain!

Actually if you keep yourself informed Shapleigh writes a ton of bills,......... mixed up.

Its an especially big problem that Perry under funds our schools, if you realize that the shortfalls and burdens are passed on and shifted locally to local residents of school districts. Thats why local taxes are so damn high, our school districts are the worst state funded schools in TX, we in EP have to make up the difference.
Open your eyes...
Please cite data that proves that Perry underfunds "our" schools. You won't be able to. The funding formulas are pretty equitable. I'll be happy to read your response.

Not really. what you're talking about is plain old stupid reaganomics. sorry but growth happens from the bottom up not the top down, when we have a society that is fully educated, healthy, and happy we all prosper as opposed to fat cats getter fatter and poorer people getting poorer.

Please cite us a few words that indicate that you understand "reaganomics". Also show any proof of your hypothesis that punishing the productive people through taxation helps the economy.

sorry but you;ve already discredited yourself by throwing insults out.

surprise! surprise! we all dont qualify to the strict rules of health care requirements. You do realize that you can be denied healthcare because of prior conditions and it is no indication of your work ethic or what social class you belong too right? Im sure you dont grasp this concept when you have everything. Get real, some people cant afford healthcare, its a human right to be healthy, and to be able to live.

you're ridiculous if you think speaking more than one language is an indication of stupidity. You do realize that people that are bilingual are actively sought especially in the sciences and clandestine services?

you fail. you are the voice of the past my friend. if you dont like it around here, leave. what a whiner.

feh your are so ridiculous. trickle down baby trickle down economics!

proof is in the pudding, since reagan we have gone from a major exporter of manufactured goods to a major exporter of raw materials and huge importer of goods, aka the economy of a third world country. The disparity between the top 1% and the bottom 10% is the most it has ever been in history. You think we doing good?

ahaa. you are hilarious. Learn how to use google if you need the facts.

I guess thats the difference between repubs and dems then right? Repubs dont give a shit about anyone but themselves.

Clearly you have no idea what Reagonomics really stood for, but im sure you think it's bad because your cool professor told you so. Reagan's idea was to get government out of the way of businesses. It worked, and we saw unfettered innovation and wealth creation. Of course we have gone away from a nation that manufactures finished goods. The cost of labor has gone up and the cost of transportation has gone down. Americas future lies in technology and innovation, not the retention of overpaid union manufacturing jobs. As for the gap between the rich and poor, the poor in this country become better off every year. So what if the rich are super rich. The poor in this country own houses, cars, televisions, etc. But unfortunately their are a lot of envious people such as yourself who care more about someone else getting ahead of you than you care for your own well being. As for using Google, why should anyone research your arguments for you. Typical lazy UTEP student. As for republicans not caring about people, I ask why is it that all the worst poverty stricken hell holes in this country are run by Democrats. I guess Dems enjoy seeing people hurting.

sure okay I already dont respect your view point based on your prior insults, I can already tell what you stand for. If you think that reagan deregulation is what is beneficial for workers then i cant help you at all. Look up your stuff, we have reversed our economic developements we have the characteristics of a third world economy, we are no longer a major exporter of goods but of raw materials.
You do realize that the poor have become poorer in Bush's years in office right? AKA wages have no met rises in living standards.Im not envious of anyone, especially not of the ruthless and hearless...
good for you, you have everything for yourself, I guess you can go to sleep without anything on your conscience.
Im not going to waste my time researching to prove my points to a cranky internet person, research it yourself if you genuinely care.

How interesting, people have a problem with the Tiguas, but not the Texas lottery. I guess the Tiguas have the wrong skin color....
I also disagree with the Lottery because it is essentially Regressive taxation, but this discussion was about the Tiguas (and by extension the Kickapoos as well).

I don't have a problem with the Tiguas as a group either, although their politics even among themselves does provide hours of entertainment.

The fact of the matter is that they knew they did not have a valid claim when they jumped head first into opening the Casino. They wrongly assumed that they could do what they wanted and buy forgiveness afterward. They chose to employ guys like Abramhoff (to the tune of millions of dollars) to FIX their problem rather than approaching it honestly up front. In fact, if they had begun the whole thing in an honest manner, they most likely would have eventually won approval.

I grew up around many Tribes in other parts of the country and the gambling issue has ruined the fabric and integrity more than one group. Maybe what bugs me is that not very many Tiguas claimed their heritage until there was money involved.... and when the money went away, so has that interest by most members to identify themselves as such.

As for Perry, I have more concerns with his policies regarding the Trans Texas Corridor and excessive foreign investment in Texas.

But with its $2 million price tag, some critics have questioned whether taxpayers are getting results for their money.
El Paso Mayor John Cook said of the camera program, so far, is "not a very good return on the investment."
"I really don't know of that many people who are going to spend their time monitoring a camera on the border as a pastime," Cook said. "Most people have something better to do."
IF El Paso politicans behaved like Texans; having a sense of National Security membership instead of the open border pro drug supporters, they too would benefit from Austin crumbs.
Till then, that's life! or better yet, death of a border town.... Juarez-El Paso bites the dust
