I don't trust this candidate because of his party affiliation. My city is run by democrats and they are anti-business. They always want to raise our taxes and chase would-be businesses away with stupid fees and high taxes.

Shami boasts about bringing his factory from Korea and creating jobs.

He ignores the fact that he previously exported the factory and jobs to exploit cheap labor.

Now that he's got his millions, he wants to sell himself as a patriotic do-gooderd. I'll pass.

Mr Shami said in his last visit to ELP that he wanted to OPEN THE BORDER to workers from Mexico for his new factory.
If he should be elected he will bring a small plant here and in 4 years the tax break would run out and it would close and move to Juarez........with the workers he would hire for it in the US. Until that statement I thought seriously about supporting him but we need jobs for US citizens not to open the gates to Juarez and all it's crime.
I do not think it was really bright of him to come here and slam the Mayor who is a member of the same party........ It is called "don't bite the hand that feeds you" because while Shami apparently wants to play kiss up to the LULAC crowd and the illegal immigrants he has no intention of doing anything that he claims. Put your money where your mouth is Shami build your factory and bring the jobs before the election!.........I love that commercial about how he arrived in the US with just $71 in his pocket but fails to tell you he had millions in the banks......Give us a break. El Paso is the step-child of TX already......but we can spot a phony a mile away and Mr. Shami you are a phony!!

"It's a shame there's not a war on poverty" - There is already a war on poverty, imbecile!!! Trillions of taxpayer money have been spend for years trying to end poverty using failed policies.

So this guy wants to brings jobs to El Paso after he is elected governor? Why doesn't he do it NOW?

Who is Farouk Shami? The real issue is not necessarily his religion, but his credibility. Are his Public Statements factual or just Beauty Show hype?

Farouk in San Antonio (10/21/09):“I manage business in 106 countries, I have tens of thousands of employees, and we've brought billions of dollars to the state of Texas,” Shami said.

Fact Check:
• Farouk manufacturers the products and sells them to independent distributors/importers (in US and overseas), who in return sell to the salons. He DOES NOT manage these companies. They are his customers.
• Likewise the employees of these distributors or the salons which use his products are NOT Farouk’s employees.
• Farouk has always claimed that he sells only to the professional hairdressers, yet his products can be found in Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, HEB, as well as discount stores.

As to opening factories around the State - If this was a practical and beneficial concept - Why does he just open them with the millions he is wasting on campaning? Using his own money, he would not have go through the goverment red tape.

Hey I'd vote for him. He seems just as genuine as they come. I read that he's got about 2100 full-time employees. Yes, that's not TENS of Thousands but hey man, those are some good 'ol American families being fed right there. I've almost made up my mind.

I think for most people, his ethnicity IS the problem. I'm grateful that I was raised with dissimilar ideals.

With all due respect to Mr. Farouk Shami, the thing that makes some of us suspicious is what 'The Muslim Brotherhood Project' advocates.

I invite everyone to take a little time and Google:'Muslim Brotherhood Project in your computers and learn about this very real and current threat citizens of the United States face.

My Bible tells me that " for lack of knowledge people perish"...so we better start learning and quit being so gullible. These guys are eating our lunch with our own Laws!

I wish he'd quit dangling that carrot of him opening a plant here in front of us...if you mean it...do it...don't keep promising, that if you get elected you'll open it up...so, if you don't get the job, you won't open the plant? Another lying politician, saying what you want to hear...
