New bridges will make it easier for the wounded narcos to get to Thomason and smuggled their poeple and drugs. How about bulldozing downtown (starting with city hall) as a shovel ready project?

Maybe the city of El Paso has been spared the economic meltdown, but us citizens have been devastated by it!
The city continues to collect high fees and taxes of all types, while we continue to struggle financially!
How dare you imply that "we", have been spared!!
You incompetent buffoons at city hall made sure you would get your dirty hands in our pockets, by assuring that the CAD contnue to unjustly increrase our propety values when all across this nation there is a recession!
You filthy, dirty, scum government leeches!
Give us the relief we deserve!

While the hell don't they mention double the lanes on the border highway. What good is it having a POE there if that highway cannot sustain it. Also how are we assured that after these programs are implemented the tax payers aren't going to take the burden of continuing to sustain them. I think that is the real problem that four years from now are taxes will continue to grow because we will no have 4000 more people employeed by the city and county. In the long run spending more money is a bad idea.

How about instead of figuring out how to rip off taxpayers by taking money we don't need or deserve... How about if everybody just works hard... New idea ?

What about widening the Border Freeway. The traffic is tremendous on I-10 and the Border Freeway. Making more lanes at the Border would alleviate some of the congestion and would eliminate the state or city trying to get the taxpayers to pay for a toll road in the future. Let's try some "change". This is an opportunity for the city to actually do "something" for the taxpayers!

I agree. The city has "enjoyed" thinking of all sorts of ways to get the taxpayers, especially the property owners. I have to give them credit, they have absolutely "focused" on how to get us and they have, through the police dept., property taxes, toll fees, storm water fees, etc. They continue to come up with amazing ways. I call them the "pack rats" with "queen rat" at the top. They absolutely get every "crumb" from every individual they can. When passing bonds they use the "for the children" slogan; brilliant, for whomever came up with that idea, he or she probably got a "bonus" for that one.
That is why they have not felt the "meltdown", only "we" have and they continue to spend, spend, spend...

damn, i agree with all of you,

back to lunch.....

BUT - i strongly disagree with any more international bridges - i think we should shut down one or two of the ones we have now, for better inspections of everyone and everything....it is proven that for every pound that gets caught, 3 pounds get through. I also want every vehicle inspected for proper up to date insurance, and every driver should have an american drivers license.
we could use some of that money to do these things, and most likley hire americans to do the job(s)...

Have you been to querque? Its really nice up there, when have you said that bout paso? and then theres also the fact that they have an educated job base, they tax incoming industries, and have a fair tax scale for their homeowners. they dont give all their tax money to the self proclamed needy, or make up jobs to (employ brothers and sisters) duplicate existing services. this does help, ya know.....

instead of border bridges...how about border fences! Stop the flow of illegal aliens and gangs into our nation! I live in Iowa and we have more illegals from Mexico around here than you can imagine. We also have the latino gangs in our area. Put up a fence...that is shovel ready too! rl

Why does'nt El Paso just ask Mexico for money since El Paso is more Mexican than American. Use that drug money for something, like building another hospital to service more illegals.

I wonder what the city will plan to do....cause the city reps. dont want improvement in the city. If they wanted improvement they would fix the highways, bring a sixflags, fix the parks, built a rail system, raise min. wage pay. But, the City Reps. are to dump to improve the city.
