Endor Pharma jumps on FDA approvals

Shares of Endo Pharmaceuticals jumped Friday after the company said it had won regulatory approval for two new formulations of its pain killer Opana.

For all chronic pain patients this is a breakthrough in US pharamaceutical practices. This Opana or Oxymorphone is the closet thig we have to extended release forms of palladone or hydromorphone. 6-8 times more potent than morphine!

Not so fast my friend. Yes it's true oxymorphone is about 10x over Morphine but there is a small matter of something called ORAL-BIO-AVAILABILITY. That means when you eat it, how much is destroyed by the first pass through your liver. Now Oxymorphone INJECTED INTO A VEIN OR MUSCLE IS 10X OVER MORPHINE BUT Opana and Opana ER taken ORALLY ONLY HAS A 10% ORAL-BIO-AVAILABILITY! That means when you take a 40mg pill you are only really getting 4 mg!! That is worse than hydromorphone Dilaudid which is 25%. So don't get too excited.
