Emerson had never been strong in Industrial Motor business. Instead they shouyld have acquired some good motor company to become a leading motor manufacturing company. Emerson overtook GE in 1970s as the largest manufacturer in Motors, but Emerson never took advantage of that.
Emerson never took it seriuosly to become a leading electrical company like ABB, Siemens, Schnider, Areva. They couyld have with some acquisitions and some reshuffling its own product portfolio. It is high time that Emerson makes itself a leading Electrical Company which will also help its automation and instrumentation business.
