What a pitiful, sad irony that the Indianapolis, a city of such rich and important jazz heritage, once again has no smooth jazz station. It's all about the money isn't it? The radios in my household will be tuned to W-OFF until someone brings back the jazz.

Get on shoutcast.com if you want jazz.

Indy wasn't known for "smooth" jazz. 100.9 was a little dull.

Hate to see the jazz go. I hope someone else picks it up, Imagine my surprise to hear hip hop when I tuned in yesterday afternoon.

Indy need a jazz station.

Please find a way for this most unfortunate situation for WYJZ to get back on the FM channel for Indy. If nothing but considering the choice of music people can choose to listener to. Everyone's not into hip-hop everyone don't what to listen to music that tells you how to think. The jazz you all presented was a great choice many people made. The station will be missed, a soothing touch that Indy needed here in the city that creates a calmer atmosphere and allowing people to think for themselves with music in their ear.

That's probably a good suggestion. However, my vehicle doesn't have internet.
100.9 is now a dead spot on my radio.

This format is needed in Indy! We do not need another hip hop station. I hope someone brings it back, I enjoyed listening during the day at work. Also will miss the trip a day contest, smooth jazz listener parties, and other events they sponsored.

this is crazy, if you have one hip hop keep it and leave the jazz to people who love it and the people that worked at 100.9 WYJZ, someone is always messing up something good

I feel the same way.....Indianapolis is a big city and listening to the jazz station through out the day made your day breeze by. I asked my husband last night while riding home "what are you listening to"? I thought the radio had slipped off of the station and then I woke up with this hip hop playing in my ear then Channel 6 was talking about the format had changed..........WHY, WHY , WHY did you do this to us, the people who loved Ann and John in the morning and the others during the rest of the day and the listener appreciation parties, comedy shows, trips and contests. Well, I hope someone picks up the jazz station or Ann, John and the rest of the jazz crew will start their own jazz station. Anybody that doesn't appreciate jazz isn't normal. There are enough hip hop stations on the radio but I guess money talks. I guess you all didn't appreciate the dj's of WYJZ. Well the loyal listener's did and I know I am speaking for a lot of the listener's when I say "you've taken away our friends". I, too will be tuning to W-OFF also. It's so hard to say goodbye.:(

88.7 is a great station for a variety of jazz, but only until 4pm. The public radio station WBAA in Lafayette plays an outstanding jazz show from 9pm to 5am. It's on their AM site 920,but also available on the internet. Boo hiss on the hip-hop choice. Yeah, yeah, I know it was a business decision.

Oh and Joyful lives in Indy not Nashville as it shows.

And listening to another jazz format via the internet from another city is not the same. We like our local people. I'm just so torn.

WHY,WHY, WHY did you do it?:(:(

I guess I'll go back to listening to Tom Joyner, Jay and Sybil before you sell them off, too.

How rude!!! I was shocked yesterday afternoonwhen I turned on the radio. Hip Hop? I'd rather listen to NPR. Indianapolis deserves a Jazz Station! There's a great jazz heritage here. I hope another station emerges soon.

I will greatly miss Ann, John, Carl, Michelle, and the rest of the gang at WYJZ!!! They were the only station around playing the smooth jazz format which is great to listen to wherever one may be.

I certainly wish everyone the best and hope that somewhere on the horizon, a new beacon will arise, once again broadcasting the great sounds of smooth jazz, just like 94.7-"The Wave" in warm, and sunny, beautiful Southern California!!!

HIP HOP, huh? Just what we need. More rap crap. Why bother. You can just drive down the street and hear plenty pounding from the car next to you!

Seriously, the mark segment for the number of people that will listen to smooth jazz is small. Indy had no top 40 stations after Emmis shut down Radio Now on WNOU. 96.3 plays hiphop/R&B/Rap only. 99.5 when they decide to play music is all over the place. They have no consistent type of play list and it definitely isn't top 40.
The market for younger people is much bigger and Radio One buying 100.9 was a great move for younger listeners. RadioNow was a successful station in terms of rankings in the Indy area (top 5). Hopefully Radio One has a better marketing department than Emmis as I believe that was the true downfall of RadioNow with Emmis.

Believe me there are a lot more people happy about this change than not. When RadioNow went off the air on 93.1 there was hundreds of disgruntled comments no Indy star...only 11 for smooth jazz? Point made.

Long live Radionow! Come back morning mess and nigel!

I think this is a great idea! I was completely pissed off when RadioNow suddenly became Christmas music for 93 freakin' days. Now I can finally listen to the new music again. I've been listening to CDs the last 3 days because there's not another station that compares to Radio Now.

Once againg, Indianapolis has clearly displayed how behind this city can be. Once again NAP-town. I've been to many major cities across this county and ALL have a smooth jazz station. This is just what we need, another station with a bunch of meaningless music. As if we don't have enough of HIP-HOP, T-PAIN, YADA YADA... Thank Radio-one and Emmis.. Great job.. All about the money isn't it? Just sad. Not everyone can afford XM or SIRUS.

I really am upset that no one asked the listeners what we wanted to hear I loved the smooth jazz staion, it was the best on the air. You guys blew it and I will not be listening to Radio Now I hope it FAILS! Give the over 30 something else to listen to besides hip hop and R&B. Jazz is classy something that I suppose you don't know about, it is all about the MONEY it always is.
