Embarcadero to lease space at Granite Creek Business Center

Hmmm. A failed software company buys a failing unit of a failed software company that was crushed by a monopolistic software empire and then moves into the old support site of a monopolistic network gear empire.

Interesting...can you spell that out to us with the names?
The whole tech run-up and crash is rather fascinating to me.

So now that old Borland headquarters on Enterprise Way will have maybe three people working there (outside of the private halth club that occupies the old Borland rec center). Pitiful. It's such a beautiful building, but built in an idiotic place. What a waste.

Embarcadero buys Code Gear from Borland/Inprise, which was squashed by MS, and moves them into Cisco's old tech support site.
Note that Cisco bailed over the hill to save a few bucks. And so Scotts Valley has fewer good jobs and more commuters.
How about the city council tries to lure some good jobs here instead of companies like TARGET or other crummy retailers?

Why is it a waste?
If Santa Cruz County and the City of Scotts Valley didn't pushed every small to medium tech company away, then things would be much different there.
Taxes and regulation have driven away everyone but Seagate. NetFlix was founded in Scotts Valley and they left, building a campus in Los Gatos.
Big guys like IBM, Nokia, Cisco, and others have left because this area hates high-techers.

Seagate is only here as a ghost .
all Hard-drives are made in S.E.Asia ,
Corporate Headquarters are now in the Caymen Islands
Very few "Good" Jobs , or Taxes for Scots Valley

It's a waste because there is this big, expensively built, energy consuming building (with appended sea of very-empty asphalt parking lot) on Enterprise Way, which is almost empty. And it has been so for years. How can you see that as anything other than waste and folly?
As for Seagate being the last holdout in SV, isn't there still a tech biz behind Skypark? Aviza Technology?

Aviza is even more of a ghost--and it's a toxic waste site! Scotts Valley's own SUPER FUND SITE!
I'd rather have a nice pool and a gym and park-like grounds (which, by the way, cover most of the location) than another strip mall or a big box. It's a nice place to work, too. Too bad that Scotts Valley only wants to keep tech losers in town (oh, and Jack In The Box!)
