Kodak Unit Accused Of Age Bias June 6, 2008 Article tools E-mail Share Digg Del.icio.us Facebook Fark Google Newsvine Reddit Yahoo Print Reprints Post comment Text size: The federal agency that investigates complaints of worker discrimination has accused a Kodak subsidiary, Qualex, of targeting more than a dozen older workers for layoffs at its East Hartford plant.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit against the photo-finishing company last week in U.S. District Court. The agency is seeking back wages for the 13 employees dismissed during a company downsizing in January 2004. The EEOC is also calling for the company to create new policies and programs to prevent age discrimination.
The EEOC opened an investigation after a laid-off worker, Teresa Cristelli, filed a complaint alleging age bias and discovered that the average age of the affected workers was over 50, the lawsuit says.
A Kodak spokesman, Alan Brakoniecki, declined to discuss the case except to say: "We categorically deny that Qualex engaged in any systemic discrimination in conducting its reduction in force."

Kodak took itself out of the running a long time ago. 25 years ago Kodak was selling mega-pixel arrays to the Government to watch nuclear bomb explode but didn't bother to go commercial because of managerial stupidity. Kodak fired so many specially skilled workers that the real photo business is in the tank and Professionals are buying from the Japanese. Kodak has concentrated so much of its energy on its "core business" that it really doens't know who to do inthe first place that it has lost it ability to be a profitable big tiem top teir player in nay industry. Kodak has not nitch to fill because it is a real dude and has been for years. Too Bad, while it stuck othe Philosophy of the founder it work better than just good, itworked wonderfully, but like somany others that is no longer the case. Instead, I hemorages capital to top managers that keep digging its grave deeper. Kodak is dead! Long Live Kodak!

Over eight months ago they were focusing on $40, when they should have been focusing on $4, as it's a lot closer to $4 than $40 now!
