Wow thanks Sam. This wait is so frustrating. I wish they would give you more info rather than just have you waiting cluelessly. Is the job really that bad though because I keep hearing horrible things.

Jen, Its not until next week Thursday.
I will keep posting.

I realized this forum was mainly focused on CSR/CFR positions. But it always helps to share information about other job position.
JR Designer Test:
Kirchoff voltage and current laws, parallel and series resistors and capacitors. Map Scales, geometry, trig (cosine, sine). Be aware, you have to do cosine and sine functions WITHOUT a calculator and each assessment is timed. Multiplication and division/long division. They give you problems with decimals. Real tideous stuff(and again no calculator).
Other problems consisted of a set of the same pictures and you have to tell whats different. Comparing log reports and seeing if all the information is the same or different. Basic English stuff: is this a full sentence. Which word is spelled wrong.
Basic CAD information:(based on this drawing are you viewing a plan, section, or etc).
Mapping: finding items on a map based on grid locations (B10, H11) or vice versa. I remember stuff like elevation and contour lines (just know the difference)
To be honest taking the test was nerve racking b/c as you moved to the next assessment more ppl kept failing. If you don't pass you can not preceded to the next part. We started the test around 9am and I wasn't finished until around 2.
Hope my input helps.

Thanks Nish,

My brother is trying to get into con ed as an electrical tech. I will pass this info on to him. You've given me more info than I expected. Thanks so much. Hopefully someone out there can give you enlightening info about your upcoming interview.

Just apply online, www.coned.com . I applied for the CSR position yesterday, but I'm waiting for them to call me back regarding the CFR position. I haven't heard anything from them since I took the medical in December.

U should apply, but if u pass everything, be prepared to wait a long time for a callback like the rest of us.

I spoke with Irsa today regarding my medical results I took back in December and she said that everything cleared. She said that they r calling applicants by boro. She said that my application is in the pool and it could take months for them to contact me. I'm glad everything went well with my medical, so all I have to do now is wait :-)

Waiting is the hardest part, but con Edison is not going to call even if u are starving or if it will save ur life. It takes a while. I had to wait 10 month to get the call and everybody that works with me had to wait longer. So get ready to wait, and try to get a job in meantime, time will go faster when u have a job.

i applied for the cfr position almost 2 years ago, got the call to take the test june 2011, failed. applied for the csr test, got a call in september, took ts september 2011. and passed, and have been going through the entire hiring process, computer test, voice test, sit down face to face interview, medical, and finally am starting this week (march 2012) but only because i was severely persistant in folowing up i think thats key, because they are not going to chase YOU for the position, they have so many applicants..you need to show you want this position, be on point with every piece of paper they ask you for and dont procrastinate
