I was wondering the same thing. I applied for 4 guw positions and 2 meter reader positions and haven't heard anything. Are people with some experience getting called first or is it just luck?
I honestly don't know. This is very frustrating. I just applied for the most recent meter reader position that was just posted last week as well.

I pretty much gave up at this point. I have a pretty good job and would be taking a major pay cut at first but I was thinking about the long term. Anyway, good luck to you. I've seen tons of posts on here, but not one that says anyone was hired yet.

Just did medical yesterday and they said could be up to 100 days to get called

Also heard people from 08 / 09 Tests get priority in classes

Hey Dman, congratulations. Just wondering...how did you get called? Did you know someone or just applied online and did you have some related experience? I'm asking because and 4 of my friends applied for all the positions including meter reader and none of us heard anything..

The general utility test is basic, very basic...Get yourself a GED test booklet...study for 15-20 min. per day....you should be fine by the day of the test.....brush up on the math or questions you are stumped by.....Afterwards, once you are hired kissthe supervisor's ass....maybe a reach around for good measures.....Then once you are on the job...sit in the truck and do nothing,(ex. drink coffee and smoke cigerett's, sleep etc.)...it's all part of the job!

I was surprised on the application they asked if you EVER had any moving violations. I had some 10 years ago but liscence is clean now. I wonder if that automatically filters the resume. I applied for 4 guw positions and 2 meter reader and no call. Oh well, it would be a major pay cut at first but a good long term opportunity. Good luck to all you guys and I'm still waiting to hear someone say they are hired

I just got called for the meter reader test. It is the same day as my MTA test. What are the odds?? Anyway, the option was there to reschedule so I submitted it. Does anyone know how Con Ed is with rescheduling?
