More jobs lost....Maybe after we are all out of work we will realize we can't keep sending our money oversea's and expect our economy to create real jobs.

That would be the Bush recession. Obama hasn't taken office yet.

Those of us who don't get all our news from Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity realize that this is a deep, complicated issue that cannot be pinned on any single person (that includes both Bush and Obama)

Maybe we ship jobs oversea's (sic.) because they are better educated (and despite it being a second language, they have a better grasp of English than most Americans).
Ecolab is a global company. By doing business overseas it brings in money that isn't there in America. If Ecolab was US only there would be a heckuva a lot more Minnesota layoffs than just 100.

Ecolab should explore the peanut butter manufacturing sector for Salmonella control opportunities.

My neighbor works at Ecolab downtown. His wife got laid-off from her job a few weeks ago. If he got laid-off now too, they're in big trouble.

Remember Limbaugh is a thrice divorced( Maybe he's gay)drug addict("they should be in orison") who spouts off about anything and has NEVER produced anything of value to the USA or its economy.

Some pretty funny stuff. I personally worked with one of those persons that Ecolab saw fit to let go. This was one of the truly good guys a mentor to a lot of us someone who I stood with, sweat with, and bled with. He was always there for us no matter what. I know I worked with him on an install that took all night and finished the following morning just a few hours before he received the call to come in get his walking papers. I won’t take part in the blame game lord knows there are enough people playing that game. And I know it couldn't have been easy for RS's, DM’s to let great friends and excellent employees take the hit. Just food for thought.

As a current Ecolab employee the news is scary. We were all given notice of the news and the immediate position cuts. Many of these people were good people and their positions were just cut and they were not given the opportunity to fill in at any other open position. We were not told anymore other than all of us were up for the axe. They put us all in a state of shock by telling us that no final decisions were made of as yet and that within the next couple of months the firings and/or layoffs would be in waives. How unfair and cruel is that to us! No certainty of the future. I have believed in Ecolab for over a decade and now they pull some crap like this. Where is the humanity?

Sorry to hear that happen. Well Ecolab sucks anyway. all the management that I dealt with doesn't know how to treat their employees. Dan the DM in Wisconsin is one of the most low down people I have dealt with.

They are multi-national. At least they are still pulling money from oversea's to be spent here in the USA. Not near enough of that happening!

Our love of foreign still hurts them, example:

Ecolab does a lot of work with the multiple industries, one of their bigger customers is the meat industry. When the auto industry collapsed the price of cow hide went from approx $50 a hide to less than $14 a hide. Result? in many cases that was the profit margin that the company was making it on. They slow down at best and ecolab also slows down.....Multiple other affects. Personally I am trying my best whenever possible to purchase products made as close to home as I can. I just hope my neighbor helps me also......

You are absolutely right! I am a current Ecolab employee, and I can tell you first hand that the corporate culture here is a big part of what is wrong with America today......the arrogance of upper management makes me sick. I am struggling to make ends meet, while the ceo gives himself a 12% raise in 2008 after he made an $825,000.00 salary!!.....of course this didn't include his commissions, bonuses and stock options.

The Dow dropped 32% in the 13 months prior to P-BO being elected ... it's dropped another 30% in the less than 4 months since then.

One truth about government interference with the market...they can always take a bad situation and make it worse...
