1st of all maybe i missed the mall of america thing but whatever.
Downtown st paul is not difficult and ramps are cheap- in comparison to other cities.
People are just scared to get out of their comfort zone of strip malls and Apple Bees "this isn't how Woodbury is".
If you don't understand one ways or haven't learned to read a clock and compute that your meter is expired then do the residents of downtown a favor and stay in the burbs.
the customers have already stayed away, thats the problem. Unless your a moron you would not put up with the hassle of going down to that dumpy place anyway.

We had a family gathering on a Saturday afternoon - what a mess - I had to get $20.00 worth of quarters and run around 10th and Minnesota plugging meters for guests - 10 minutes for one quarter with a two hour limit. Quarters are the only medium of exchange for the meters. Two hours = 12 quarters. Hard to keep your pants up lugging around all those quarters. As I walk around town and see signs posted "we don't give change." Terrific! People don't mind paying for meters but where do they get the dam quarters???
Why didn't you folks car pool and park in a parking ramp? It would have been cheaper than racing around plugging meters. Also, if you must use the meters for any length of time don't use quarters but use the $DOLLAR$ coins! You carry less of them and they are worth an hour at the majority of meters.

I agree St.Paul has to work out its parking meter issues problems but compare to Mpls parking in St.Paul can be a breeze if you plan ahead. Besides, when the LRT is up and running, you can use municipal style parking-long term lots and grab the mass transit [cheap city shuttle fares] to your venues. Now that would be a cheap alternative.

Just knock down about 15 or 20 of those old empty buildings then replace them with surface parking lots and that should create enough parking.

Problem solved.

That was too easy.

After Coleman's Arizona boycott, finding a parking spot in St. Paul should not be a problem.

Why would anyone go to downtown St Paul with all the street people and thugs hanging out?
That place is dangerous.
I have worked in downtown st paul for almost 10 years. my car has been broken into at least 7 times. God bless the dorothy day center and all...but it is annoying to be accosted for money all the time. I live in Minneapolis and feel tons safer at night as there are actually people walking around. Don't get me wrong, I like st paul too but I would agree there are a lot more sketchy people out and about then I care to deal with.
