It means she is young enough not to remember something that happened 32 years ago and never reads about recent history.

Fine, I guess I'm twice the fool for asking...I just prefer human conversation to search engines. The one may be more precise, but I still enjoy the honesty of the other.

Google explained it to me.

So-I blindly follow the faith of poverty? The homeless and hungry have my acceptance without question?

I'll take that.

Maybe I'm wrong, or stupid? Crazy? Oh! I'm poor, that must be it! Because we all know how wicked it is to be poor. Money is the only salvation!!

I don't know when it became a terrible thing to be poor. The poor have committed no offense. They are not an enemy, or a criminal. They're just people without money. Why try so hard to dehumanize and malign them? Pretend they are "out to get YOU"? I don't know...

Like I said-different worlds.

Since blacks invented everything else, why not invent a dung burner? There's plenty of fuel around.

If you want heat pay for it. Just because two people mated and you made it out of a womb to be sucking air doesn't give you the right to anything that you can not pay for.

Having access to heat should be a human right, but paying for it allows you to receive it. If it is a basic human right, then why do any of us have to pay for it? We should all get full cable television, international phone service and high-speed internet for free.

The basic rights are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I don't remember anything about heat, electricity, home ownership, blaming your parents and George Bush, denial of responsibility, a good job handed to you or a lot of other things being on that list.

Instead of expecting everything to be provided for you, how about working and paying for the things you want?

You could easily tare down some of your dead houses for firewood and burn them for free heat! that would also help clean up your trashy town a little, Oh sorry that would mean Detroiters would have to do a little work "GOD FORBID"

If I were to become close to homeless and I was poor, I would move to where it is warm. Problem solved! I won't be poor though because I solve problems, not ignore them. I think the best solution to poverty is to tax the hell out of it. When we tax the hell out of something we end up with less of it, and right now the poor are paying zilch. When we subsidize things we get a whole lot more of it, like poverty and unemployment. If we really wanted to get people back to work, we should stop paying unemployment past 26 weeks, like the program was designed. We are about to have to write a check to the fed's for 140 million to cover an interest payment on the money we borrowed to pay people to not work. Not a principle payment. For those poor people that don't understand what I am saying, we are screwed.

I guess that means you would walk to Florida or steal a car or sell your body for a bus ticket. problem solved! simplifying things is not conducive to fixing things. If we really wanted our neighbors to work we would buy the products they make. And, get the politicians who helped companies move overseas or across the border THE F--- OUT! But instead we buy toyotas and blame organized labor. we are screwed.

Well, first, I'd just like to say-if your equating internet access, TV, and phone service with access to HEAT then obviously you don't get the problem. No one dies from not having a phone. Granny does not freeze to death because her internet is off. Babies don't burn alive because the TV isn't working. None of those things is even the tiniest bit important to families facing winter without heat.

The Bill of Rights was a brilliant document, crafted by well meaning social Anarchists 200 yrs ago. Do you really believe they never meant us to make more of ourselves? That they intended for their words and thoughts to be our sole moral and social guide into eternity? LOL, I guess you do. Me,I'm with Roosevelt. I believe they intended for us to stand upon their words and ideas while we crafted and created our own, to better serve each other.

Money does not dictate my morality. I would never demand money to save a life, never want payment for not allowing someone to die. If your morals are ruled by money, I can only feel bad for you. That's very sad.

I do not suffer from this need. I have heat, I know how to be poor. But so many who have never known such need are now facing the terror of never ending cold. You are in this with them, whether you acknowledge that or not. With each home that has it's utilities turned off, you will pay more for yours. Most of these utilities have a contract with the city/county/state. Most of these contracts guarantee a profit, like 10% or whatever. So, with less people paying you will have to pick up the slack. How high can your bills go before you can't pay either?
