"Why would DTE risk using their ratepayer money for an unproven technology when they knew they had clueless executives at LIPA that would do it for them?"

How much more do we need to know before we conduct a full inquiry into LIPA "management" (term used loosely) and their apparent conflicts of interest?

When you appoint the head gadfly to the Shoreham nuclear plant to the head of LIPA you get results like these. "Peter Principle" classic. So is it all incompetence or corruption or a liberal dose of both? Ironic how the folks who killed nuclear are now the chief critics of our dependence on Middle East Oil AND greenhouse gas production by the "conventional" utilities left in the wake. Meanwhile Chernobyl has become a refuge for wildlife. Try and figure.... but DO INVESTIGATE.

SOUNDS LIKE TIME FOR A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR. FIRES POP-N-FRESH KESSEL THEN LOCK UP THE WHOLE MESS OF THEM. THE SAME THING IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THIS WIND ENERGY. I'M IN FAVOR OF IT BUT WITH THESE CORRUPT SOB'S YOU CAN'T TAKE THE CHANCE.
SO ONCE AGAIN IT'S GRAB THE VASELINE AND BEND OVER RATE PAYERS. THEY ARE CORRUPT LIKE ALL POLITICIANS. TAKE WHAT THEY WANT AND STICK IT TO THE PUBLIC. ALMOST READY TO LEAVE THE ISLAND.

The country needs more of these terrific "ALTERNATIVE" energy sources, if we don't use these "ALTERNATIVES" Algore has clearly stated we will die. So what if it cost 50 times as much, it's "GREEN". Next lets build windmills in the ocean and by all means stop the LNG terminal.

Substitue "Windmills" for Power Cells and you have an idea what LIPA/Kessel has in mind for our future.
LIPA needs to be purged of executives with political and "environmental" agendas and start trying to run a power utility for it's customers.

Years ago, I remember Richard Kessel used to fight for us as the most visible consumer advocate in the state.

Well, it looks like he has literally become a "fat cat" and bought into the whole power-trip, do what you want and let the consumer be damned attitude much of corporate America has.

How I long for the leaner, meaner Richie Kessel of old! Maybe LIPA wouldn't be getting away with things like this and the consumers of Long Island wouldn't be getting these kind of costs added onto their bills!

Oh goodie, now let's let them waste more money on putting up useless ugly wind mills to blight the common man's Hamptons ie: Jones Beach. STOP the windmills and bring back LILCO. LIPA is full of left over hacks from the GOP and Dems.
