I've had occasion to drive east on West Broad Street, past Tandet Center, and look at the Target building and Landmark 1 beyond it. The proposed Trump building would be ridiculously out of place and out of scale, at least from that angle.

Why on earth are they even considering it? Why on earth is Stamford even considering approving it?

A building of that scale might work in the center of Stamford's central business district, particularly if it had a satisfactory plaza around it and was set back well from the streets. But on a half-acre lot on the edge of the CBD, it would be completely out of place.

Further, it is difficult to imagine why such a building --- wherever it might be located -- should be permitted to have less than the amount of parking that the codes call for. People who are paying that price for a condo are not going to do without at least one car, and probably several. The building should be required to provide sufficient parking for both residents and guests, and not burden either the surrounding streets or existing parking lots and garages.

Before such a building gets approved, I would like to see photographs taken from West Broad Street of, say, four strings of large balloons, attached to the four corners of the proposed footprint and ranging to the full height of the proposoed building. Similar photos from other angles, including West Main Street near Richmond Hill Avenue, and Strawberry Hill near the Tully Center, and near I-95 Exit 9 would also help people visualize the scale of this building.

What is in this for the residents of Stamford? Suppose this thing doesn't sell? The expensive building on Forest Street is said to be selling more slowly than expected. Do we really want this? Do we have a say in what gets built?

Stamford is among Connecticut's largest cities, but does it call for a 37 story building when the next tallest building is, what, 22 stories?

Stamford needs housing, but it probably doesn't need more luxury housing nearly as much as it needs affordable housing for folks at and below the median income level. How do we correct the incentives to help make that happen?

Yes it does, let the economy grow idiot, if Trump built something that high other developers will build something just as tall, and make Stamford into a bigger city. Stop complaining, we need something in CT like this, you backwards minded people prevent this all the time. Everyone is moving forward in this country with technology and buildings, let CT do the same!
