The comments in your article hit home with me. I have an annual CAT scan, and the usual price is around $310. The last time, my doctor requested I go to Sutter (Santa Rosa) so the report would pop up on her computer and she wouldn't need to request the film.

Imagine my surprise when Sutter billed $4,786 for the exact same procedure that cost $310 elsewhere.

So far, I have talked to Sutter several times to try and get them to be more reasonable, but with no success.

The part that really strikes me as dumb, is that patients who self-pay or carry private insurance, are the hospital's best customers, yet we are the ones they rape.

Of course hospitals have higher costs than imaging centers, but come on, not 15 times higher! They use the same machines, to take the same pictures, and look for the same issues.
