Terrible company to work for.

This company pretends to care for its employees but does nothing to help them , instead cuts hours and gives you less hands to get the job completed but at the same time adds more for you to get done on a weekly basis. I would not recommend, under any circumstances ,this as a company to work for, but more a company you should stay away from. I know what I am talking about as I have been with the company for over 14yrs and plan on retiring very soon, upper management in this company only cares for themselves and could care less about the personnel in the stores, they pretend like they do, just as a front for the public and stockholders.

This is the worst job I have ever had. They pay you the lest they can and work you the hardest they can. I'm the only "customer associate" that has to come in at 6 am to do stock then get on the register and do stock at the same time. What makes me so angry is when the manger has a fav in the store who is not putting things in the right place or doing her job and the ones who are working and doing there job right hours are getting cut. I Can't live when my boss gives me 4 hours a week. and the other girl never has less then two day no matter what she only has to work nights once a month and calls out every time. I get to work in her place but that means I have to restock ,recover, clean the bath rooms , sweep and mop the floors and make sure it is done in 15 to 30 mins With no help from the keyholders one bit they just get to sit on there but and count the money. I'm Sick of busting my butt for no pay I have been with DG for 3 years and 7.75 is just not worth the money ONE BIT !

I can't agree more that DG is a HORRIBLE place to work. I refuse to tell which store I work at, but I have the absolute worst manager ever. She was transferred from one store to mine and is a total bitch! She gives you ten jobs expected to be done by one person! HOw the hell do I ring up over 100 customers and put out merchandise from 3 totes every hour?!!!! Oh! and I just love that I got written up over something that wasn't my fault.
DG has awful policies and don't really care about customer service. I could go on and on but it's not worth it. I can't wait to leave and not give a notice. A notice is a damn courtesy and DG doesn't deserve that, especially I work my ass off there with no respect. My idiot manager refuses to give me full time hours. I am the absolute most dependable person there. I can't survive off of 18 hours a week.

A new person was hired in our district,employees that had been with the dg for up to ten years trained and worked with her after training she got to be the district manager over all that had trained her. Once she got the title she started getting rid of managers and the company would not listen to anything except what she said. LIe after lie and they would not talk to anyone .I must say all the lies and the people still got their unemployment|

I can not understand why this company does not follow up on district managers,when they are trained in their hometown and trained by store managers that has been with the company for years and done a great job for the co.Then the new person is promoted to a district managers over the people that trained her,she plots and get rid of these managers,cause she knows they go by the policy dg has in place,Why Would THIS NOT CAUSE AN INVESTIATION????
