Dillards Profit/Loss Masked by Reduced Commissions/Markdowns

The 12% January sales reduction is not what it seems. Because, Dillards is taking additional markdown selling expenses on a more regular basis.
Total sales figures will have to be lower when they constantly mark down merchandise 14-days after unloading from the trucks.
Plus, Dillards has started reducing sales employee sales commissions to as low as only 1.5% which also increases profits even with more markdowns.
Dillards is a shopper's best buy store but a employee's worst nightmare.

The last comment made about the being the employee's worst night mare is so true. How do they expect to keep employee's with a cut in pay incentive? They shouldn't expect their employees to have any loyalty when they have nothing to work towards. This also makes it very frustrating for other employees who have to bear the burden of constantly training new hires & keeping up the job that should require more than just one person. Just my opinion from seeing it first hand.

I agree with the last comment made by tatertot, Greenville, SC. I work at a Florida store and I'm presently feeling the Dillards "wrath" I have just received a $1.5 paycut on a $3.00 that I missed on my sales goal. This is $300 p/month which I have to make up somehow. Dillards is the worst nightmare as a job and I see about 6-10 new hires every "graduation" day. How do they expect us to make our quotas when there is no business, no customers! These people think that we can do miracles and unfortunately there is anything we, the employees, can do. If there anyone out there that is thinking of filing a lawsuit against this monster, let me know I will gladly sign on the dotted line and I know for a fact that there is at least another 20-30 more employees that will gladly do it too! Please someone out there, CAN YOU HELP US!

Do be aware, disgruntled employees, that when you signed your arbitration notice, that was an agreement not to sue Dillards over the SPH system (among other things), therefore it is perfectly legal. If you don't like Dillards, don't work there. Or at least come up with some valid ideas where a struggling company like it can afford to pay without those goals. And then remember that if you were working any other sales job, you would be on pure commission instead of modified commission (which is what SPH is), and then if you didn't sell anything, you would make absolutely no money.
