Paying by cell phone is old news here in Japan we now have over 5000 places where you can scan your phone to pay. Just a few months ago they rolled out vending machines that work by waving your cell phone in front of a reader.

It said that NCR uses such technology in Denmark and Singapore so my guess is they already have.
