The blame lays squarely on the Goldsmith/Daniels privatization schemes. CCA, the Toll Road consortium, and the New Castle correctional crooks are all products of government sponsored corruption. The first thing we the people lose when crooks cook up these scams, is oversight and control. There has not been one penny saved, and these efforts to sell off public assetts will likely cost us far more in the future.
Ummm... Nope... CCA was around BEFORE Daniels or Peterson! Can't blame CCA on Daniels.

<quoted text>I don't think they want the money. They just want something done about the situation that is going on. Not everyone is money hungry dear
It proves to me that they are NOT out after "easy money" when I see that they are seeking Punitive Damages. People need to remember, or be told because they may not know this, but in the state of Indiana anyone who gets punitive damages loses 75% of those punitive damages to the states Victim Assistance Fund. It is not worth suing if the purpose is to merely get "easy money" because they don't see squat from punitive damages. The 25% that they would get from punitive damages would go towards paying attorneys fees, IF they are lucky... as their attorney fees would be counted from the total award itself. Doing this for "easy money", as another poster wrote... I do not think so. They are truly trying to prove a point and get the publics attention that something needs to be done. That is it, plain and simple.

I salute these nurses for coming forward and I hope they collect on their lawsuit. With a company like CCA it's all about money so money is the only thing that will get their attention.

Failure to name the sheriffs department as the primary manager of a contract with these problems is also possibly a racist gesture. And of course the sheriff will not comment about this legal action because of the onoing litigation and he mght pull himself into it.
It has been Anderson's responsibility to oversee this contract with CCA for years. Send a report to him and it will sit on his desk because he has more important things to worry about... like whether or not his people are collecting on unpaid property taxes so that he will get his property tax collection cut. Remember the over $300,000 income he got just specifically for unpaid property taxes. CCA's problem is CCA's problem... he let's their corporate handle it.

I knew several of the nursing staff there that were having sex with the inmates. Its a shame these "good girls" are trying to take advantage of the system.
Wonder where the inmates got the cash? Donut dollies of the 21st century!

I had a very close friend in CCA for 11 months. Let me tell you it was hell trying to get is medication given to him. I finally had to go back to court to get it done. These people do not care about the inmates it is all about them. Phone calls are useless, I called numerous times and even called TN a few times. It is a real joke there.
Try having a "child" in a county facility and ill. They are charged outlandishly for shampoo, tylenol, socks, shoes, etc. as well as for seeing the nurse who could care less - tells them to just get over it. They are working there and need to remember these inmates are human, regardless of why they are there. Keep in mind, it's the family who are paying the charges and getting raped in the process. Maybe we could sue the Sheriff who is making several hundred THOUSANDS of dollars off the profits from the commissary - that's where the greater chunck of his salary comes from.

This does happen. Unfortunately, as long as society has an attitude of "revenge against criminals" rather than punishment and rehabilitation then we will continue to have crime inside out jails and prisons as well as outside them.
