I would like to know how you can actually live with yourselves knowing that the majority of your staff are untrained and more corrupt than the inmates you house. You people need to take a closer look at how you run these jails. My daughters dad died in one of your jails and a month later another man died. My daughters dad had been being beeten for 3 days prior to his soposed suicide. I know my daughters father he was my best friend in life and he would never have killed himself. But to cover of the neglect on the part of your corrupt officers you staged a suicide. I will get to the truth and it will be told nationwide, so get ready. I think and feel that CCA should be shut down and run out of all the jails and prisons. You have no place in this system! I have worked in the prison industries as an officer for several years and you shame the prison system!!!

why is it that. when a jail or prison intakes and releases 18,000 new residents a year. i Dont ever hear anybody saying anything good, but somebody takes their own life. let's find somebody to blame when the police arrests the drug dealer next door to your family with kids. it's not good job but why did they have to break the door. you have correction officer that work 16 hours days to protect the families that are doing right by societies standards. these correction officers put their lives on the line trying their best to make sure that residents stay facilitated behind bars. no matter whom run these facilities the public will always find fault in that company CCA, local sheriff's department or whom ever. the ones that criticize thesis company are usually the ones that has done something wrong and have been placed into one facilities that they so love to criticize i guess it would be best to just let all those kills, sex offenders, drug dealers back in your neighbor hood near your kid and your families since they are doing such a bad job

I can only say this it was there time to go and if you ever worked in a prison you know how things are also if they wouldn't have been in prison in the first place then it wouldn't have happened.

Untrained, maybe, but corrupt...prove it.

Sorry 'bout yo' baby daddy.

I have a question (since you are a high speed, super-duper GOVERNMENT correctional officer); do most of your female co-workers have children with felons? It seems like breeding with convicts might make you more open to corruption, that's all.

Did you meet this man while he was locked up in your facility? Is that where you conceived your children?

Does this make you unusual? Do a lot of your co-workers call you an "inmate lover" because your baby daddy is a con?

Gee, I also worked the field both public and private. The only problem I see ,Rhonda, after almost ten years experience is a shift towards thug sympathy among some in the public, and some in the field. Yes there are dirty officers, including a portion of lovesick idiots who have the need to grab a boyfriend from these facilities.

CADC GUY is demonstrating some insight. Fairly articulate, as well.
Do me a favor, Guy: Read "Isolated Incidents: Reflections of a Correctional Officer," by Kevin L. Thomas. Available at www.Amazon.com . Then tell me how a super-cop CO could have ended up so deranged at the end of an eight-year tenure. I'll get contact info to you later.

OK, G., you're a fairly articulate, insightful veteran of the DOC. Please, read "Isolated Incidents: Reflections of a Correctional Officer," by Kevin L. Thomas, available at www.Amazon.com . Then tell me how it was that he, a first-rate

Hi Ronda Stewart Ex State Correctional Office
Stewart. I am sorry to hear about your Daughters dad. But you know full well all agency's including the State facility you worked at across the street from CCA, Hernando Correctional Institute has uncertified offices working for them, most everyone starts their careers this way. And my god nobody covers up scandals better than the state prison system the state covers up better than anyone in the business just look at Dr. Poppy http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/fci/hernandopsyc... and what he did at Hernando, do you really think the Chief of security Major Debbie Comstock knew nothing about his years and his sexcapades with female inmates, please don't be so naive. Corrections is a high turn over job because most can't handle the pressure which I understand was your case, As far as officers being "corrupt" the State department of Corrections takes the cake in that dept you know, you worked for them. Just look at how corrupt Secretary Crosby for the D.O.C was. HE'S IN FEDERAL PRISON and so many who helped him are still working for the D.O.C including your ex boss Major Comstock at Hernando Correctional Institute. your angry and want to see all the good hard working decent officers at CCA out of a job. Your should stay away from Corrections you were a poor officer. I think CCA should take over all Correctional Facilities in Florida it makes no sense in these economic hard times for the state to pay pensions, medical benefits, workers compensation, uniforms, salaries and law suits when CCA could save the state a bundle and run the facilities at half the cost and do a better job. I haven't seen the "nation wide" story yet and it's been several years now

The CCA not a PLACE TO BE AS A INMATE. INMATES get
NOTHING. THE family must pay for everything they need. FOR EXAMPLE MY SON MUST TAKE MEDS. HE must buy them from cca at a VERY HIGH COST. HE IS CHARGED FOR 1 PILL $9.00 EACH. WHEN THE 30 DAY SUPPLY ONLY COST $35.00 AT WALMART. WE SEND A MONEY ORDER EVERY WEEK FOR OUR SON.$100.00 IS A LOT OF MONEY IN THESE HARD TIMES. YES I KNOW MY SONS A INMATE. YES HE WAS WRONG, HE WILL SERVE HIS TIME. BUT WHY CAN'T THE CCA LET US GET HIS MEDS FOR HIM. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO HAVE ALL THE CONTROL OF THE INMATES. WHY CAN'T THEY THINK ABOUT THE FAMILYS ON THE OUTSIDE WHO CAN'T EVEN SEND A PAIR OF SOCKS OR A COAT. THIS PLACE IS COLD AND YOU SHOULD ASK HOW MUCH A SWEATSHIRT COST A INMATE, FROM CCA.
WE SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS. THE CCA SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL EVERYTHING FOR THE INMATES. HERNANDO NEEDS TO TAKE IT BACK FROM THE CCA. IT NEEDS TO BE RUN BY HERNANDO COUNTY, THE PEOPLE.
NOT THE OH MIGHTY DOLLAR. CCA

I realize that dealing with inmates daily is tough and can be dangerous.... Although if someone were allowed to watch the videos of the holding area you would see the so called guards enjoy what they do. They laugh, eat constantly, pay no attention to to anyone in the holding areas, make threatening remarks, deny medical attention, drag detainees from cells and pull them down the hall and throw them around due to verbal comments that offend the so called guards, use filthy language constantly. Those of you supporting CCA read their history of corruption there is so much of it in multiple states it's easy enough to find on Google. Last note CCA is a corporation... people with valid issues with CCA need to buy stock group together because now you own a piece of this monsterous institution and go to a shareholders meeting and mingle with the million dollar investors who know nothing of how unprofessional the corporation is... Last note, Google CCA'a mission statement you will either cry or laugh your butt off by how it differs from what actually happens in the CCA facilities. Remember this you higher form of life so called guards you are simply corporate employees not better then garbage man with a badge and a false sense of power. Outside your disgusting work place you are worthless scum and you all have forgotten one thing... In the United States Of America Citizen are innocent until proven guilty. Or are you too ignorant to know that

people it is what it is...do your 8 and hit the gate stop all the drama and for the woman who wants to knwo why institutions don't think about the families of these inmates....hello!!!! the inmates appearently weren't to conserned about the family and what they would go through..why she we worry about the families as officers..why can't you send him stuff...bright idea ask your son what happens when people get sent stuff....we usually end up with one more on the compund! its prison nothing goes in or comes out! inmates have all day to think of how to get things in...we try to keep it safe

Bella, you can't be be for real... I spent 3 days at CCA after my 3 day field trip in the end the deposition was NOLLE PR (NO PROSECUTION) So like the law says innocent until proven guilty. Bella, I saw and was subject inhumane acts. I'm supposing you presenting yourself as an honest officer would take a moment and say hold on we have a responsibility to those we supervise (meaning detainees) read the link above which is the mission statement for CCA which happens to be a total contradiction to the way the operation is run.... everyone in detention IS NOT EQUAL "do your 8 and hit the gate"? what is that!!! Take a moment and put yourself in my shoes I had a traffic violation (an accident) the average citizen has no idea that their prescribed medication has to be in its prescription bottle or it is a felony... buddy I took a 25 foot fall and cracked my skull from front to rear and suffered brain damage, Dr's told me I should have died from that fall but I was lucky enough to live and still function after rehabilitation. My experience with CCA started with a moron Deputy (which by the way anyone who is detained by a police officer has the right by law to review that officers file... in her file it showed she was detained at TIA for attempting to board an aircraft with a concealed weapon, beat up detainees with her night stick for inappropriate reasons, was written up for insubordination and the inability to follow direction from her peers and supervisors and I'm sure I'm now in her file also since I filed a report with the Dept Of Justice) I had my prescriptions mixed in the same bottle (as you can buy from any drug store that says carry your pills in this!!!)at CCA I passed the breath test twice... the deputy wanted a urine test... I told her due to non narcotic medicine I was on which causes urine retention I wanted a blood test at my own expense which she denied me... I was also denied phone calls to let someone know where I was, both actions are violations of state and national statues. That's how I became lucky enough to witness the antics of the CCA guards that I wrote about above... I COULD HAVE DIED WITHOUT MY MEDICATION AND I WAS INNOCENT!!!... another post in here talks about inexperienced guards and high turnover in employees... don't you think as a professional there needs to be at least 1 highly trained experienced leader of these trainees... detainees or not the people in those cells are still human... I demanded to see a facility Dr. from 6am and finally after knocking on the cell door requesting over and over to see one I did at 4:30 that afternoon... after my consultation the Dr said he was getting me out of there for proper care... but the head inexperienced guard told the Dr he was not going to be given my wallet so he could contact my primary care physician.... if you are a police officer you need to re-evaluate some of your ways of thinking and remember "You work for me my taxes pay your salary, you are a public servant hired under oath to protect and serve the citizens of your jurisdiction. My experience was such a cluster f*** the judge requested I didn't write a book or make a movie about my experience which was a total shock because I know the comment was recorded and video taped in the courtroom...summary, those that are hired to uphold the law do not have the right to alter it to suit their needs without consequences and the citizens who must abide by the law don't have the right to break it without consequences. THE LAW WORKS BOTH WAYS. Have a good evening Bella
