How is the work environment? I just read a whole slew of complaints. Anyone recommend working for CVS? What about promotions?

I worked at CVS for 3 years. I enjoy my job. However, you get constant customers who are angry at you and tend to yell. The stress level is certainly high for a low pay. I basically make 9.35 an hour with the annually raise (which is 30 cents in October).

CVS comes up with a list full of things to ask customers. "Can I have your DOB?" "How many Prescriptions are you picking up Mr/mrs ____" "Would you like your prescriptions to be put on Readyfill?" "Would you like to get a text message when your prescriptions are ready?" and you must say their name 3 times. All these questions and they expect interaction time to be less than 2 minutes. Ridiculous.

As for promotions its PSA - Technician - Inventory Specialist -(pay raise) Lead Technician. Nothing really further than that unless you get offered to become a trainer. At that time, being a trainer... You can get fired and not return being a technician. I seen it happen to my old trainer.

You will always start out as part time, and rarely become full time unless someone in full time status quits. I am still considered part time even if i work 40 hours a week.

So, overall, I enjoy my job. I just think the CEO should be on that one show "Undercover Boss" and actually see what goes on in the pharmacy. Expecially if they are making us do so much things.

Thanks. Actually I applied for a floor supervisor, unless I can get paid more than I currently do. Right now I work for Walgreens and can do most things at the store level. I am just not happy with the direction we are headed, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to apply for CVS, and try to get a supervisor position. I heard a voice telling me to apply (hopefully it was God and not just a "feeling"). So at least I have the experience, both in the front and back in the pharmacy. Thanks again :)

if youve got a problem with walgreens then youll have the same issues with cvs. if you were an mgt and jumping ship consider this. You got lucky with wag's mgt program. You don't see hourly wages for a position like this in retail. the company grew to the point where it realized it was overcompensating its management. ask a cvs emp what their shift supervisor rate is and how many assistant managers are in each store.
