Severance pay is fine if you weren't tip-based, but I believe the servers only got $3 something plus an estimate of tips, probably on the 15% side, so doubt that 2 months will carry far. I understand if servers and the like knew their place was closing it may affect quality, but still. I've closed a few things down myself...I doubt the quality would have suffered to such an extreme that they needed to close without notice.

It's just a shame all around...and for STORES, UGH.

wow. I have many times gone to dolly's dinner theater. Always a good meal n show. I see the almighty dollar buys out something good and throws people out of work.
There was a mention of them moving someplace
else buy I really doubt it. I thought King Henry's said the same thing and you see they never moved any other place but sold out their land for mucho bucks.

The food, the drinks, the service was excellent!!! I've been there a couple times and it was far better than most Orlando, FL restaurants, plus the best shows I've ever seen!!
As far as your China comments, you are an ignorant person!! Whether you realize it or not, most jobs in the USA and ALL consumers are dependent on China producing goods at low, reasonable prices. That can no longer be done in the USA. If it wasn't for China ALL USA consumers would be paying double (as most countries have been for years) for everyday needs. Our standard of living is cheap compared to worldwide.

China is becoming the "worlds" manufacturing capital of the universe while our governments (Federal, State and local) continue to let insurance companies, unions and local property taxing authorities do whatever they want. Our own governments, including Orange County, are forcing jobs overseas. Every day, more and more companies are forced to send their payrolls overseas. Everyone is being taxed to death and still no one does anything about it. Why do you think Orlando and Orange County "leaders" (who are really followers) keep going on China trips at our expense??? China will eventually raise their citizens standard of living at consumers expense (just like the oil countries are doing now in the USA) once all of the manufacuring is there. China is really a smart capitalistic country, communist in government only for crime purposes. If only this country would handle rapists, armed robbers and murderers like China does. I am sad to see Dixie Stampede close...our family enjoyed going to the Christmas show. I hope they really do re-open somewhere else in the area, and I wish the best for all the employees--sorry that wasn't handled better.

It is truly sad to see a company profess to be full of Christian values and then be so quick to conceed to greed. It is also disheartening to see so many ridicule each other on this subject when if they were the employee who had just been let go with no warning would feel betrayed and distraut themselves. Anyone who has ever put in an a honest day of work and is loyal to its employer knows that this situation was hurtful. It was handled badly by the parent corporation both in and out of the press. If Dixie Stampede plans to reopen and relocate, then why the big secret? Why not be honest with its employees, its customers...both consumers and corporations, and with the city of Orlando. As it was handled now, if they gave tickets away at the "new and improved location" I doubt it would be well received.

Any one of us would have done the same thing for a good business deal. Two months severance pay and offers for a job at the new location, good deal to me. Too many companies don't care what happens at least from the looks of this deal it seems like they do. Time will tell and let's hope they do the right thing
