High Cable TV cost

I am trying to find a way to get rid of Cox horrendous Cable Television cost. We have two HD TVs, one 6 months old, and still pay monthly rental for "Advanced HD receivers" for 2 sets. We have 100s of channels we never use. When asking Cox about all the various items under TV, such as
1. What is a Cox TV starter (which could be had with a so-called rabbit ear)
2. why Expanded Service
3. why Advanced TV
4. Why Variety Pak
5. HD Receivers (we learned already that we can just return the boxes and just receive the "standard" TV)
I am told "that is just all part of the package and cannot be taken apart".
DOES THAT MAKE SENSE ? Not to me!
Does anybody have an idea how to reduce our service to just the "Expanded Service". Maybe there is certain question that needs addressed to Cox in order to get the correct answer?
We do watch CNN< FOX and some others that are listed under "Expanded Service" and do want those.

try complaining to the NETWORKS. its them that force cable companies to package channels the way they do. its the networks that force cable companies to charge the way they do. its the networks that will not allow a la carte channels selection and instead force subscribers to buy packages of channels.
so complain to them, not cable companies.

nobody complained to VIACOM when they raised prices to directv forcing directv to raise prices. everyone complained that directv were the bad people. wake up general public and realize who really is in charge of pricing - the NETWORKS!
