Costco readies for new opening

Oh, I dropped my Costco membership, why have it when there is not a store closer than a 2 hours drive, I just don't understand Costco's thinking not to have a store in the state capital.

the owner of askasheville.com , talked to management at one of the costcos in upstate of sc and they said they are coming to the asheville area!! dont know when though

You need to understand that for Costco to make it work, they need a piece of property big enough and at the right price to make it worthwhile. Not to mention getting the zoning approved etc. Costco runs on slim margins, paying too much for a piece of land makes it uneconomical to operate a store.

Yes, we need a Costco in Columbia - NE. I hate Sam's and was making the trek to Charlotte at times to shop at Costco. Please open one here!!

I live in the Rio Grande Valley (McAllen) area of Texas -- about 8 miles from the Mexican (Pharr) border. Rumor here about a year ago was that we were getting a Costco in this area but have heard nothing since. Can't believe you are overlooking this area which is growing like crazy and has every national chain store right here. Maybe you are overlooking the Mexican population in your calculations. They do most of their shopping at Sam's, Home Depot, Circuit City, etc. We would love to have you here instead of driving 250 miles to San Antonio. Comment please.

we have a store in monterrey mx, maybe that is why the numbers are not in your favor. our store pretty much has the same merchandise as the san antonio store. good luck hope the rio grande valley gets a store soon. i know the winter texas would appreciate it.
