I would bank that most citizens opposing this transaction are nothing more than NIMBY's. Every community wants to oppose it, and then complain when jobs are outsourced to other countries because you blocked a business from being more productive. Not to mention, you leave all the other communities stuck (i.e. South Holland)who already have to deal with the traffic. Let me ask you people this. What would you do if the EJ&E all of a sudden had growth and decided to run 28 trains a day? You people need to realize that if CN is not allowed to purchase, they will still acquire trackage rights. You need to cooperate while CN is willing to accomodate the changes. If CN does end up losing this battle and ending up with trackage rights, they don't have to do a damn thing for you people.

seriously, THE CN and it's near unlimited reach in resources, can and will undoubtedly claim the midwest region as a major player in the societal changes.... IT's like this... Urbanites, suburban familis from Waukegan to Indiana are growing, Schools are at Max Capacities. Demand is sure to follow and has... HOW CAN WE NOT ALLOW THE TRANSPORTATION Of Goods, products and resources to feed down on these populated communities... I suppose more Semi's and Cargo's on are already congested Highways.... Hmmmm? Ok probably not, considering your tax dollars are going more in debt to a government that already mismanages money, by filling the same potholes, and never effectively utilizing an Interstate system that is failing worse than the mideast redevelopement.

Where is the proof of this? I'm a CN employee and if you have information to back that up then you must know some of the higher ups in the company. We have not been told anything as of yet, and we are still worried we are the one to lose jobs...not the EJE. Until it actually happens nobody knows. All I know is on the 23rd we (cn crews)can start operating on the EJE tracks.

No union at all? Would you not automaticly be in the union that represents the present CN employees? Was EJ&E non-union?

Absolutely agree. One only has took lok at CN's takeover of BC Rail in Canada to realize how bad the fella's at EJand E are about to be screwed over. Too bad no one looked into CN's past practices in Canada before letting CN get their way with the EJand E. Good luck boys. Welcome to Hunter Harrison's world. It's an absolute nightmare!!

Trains are not going away. I live 200 feet from the railroad and the trains are just part of our lives. I can hear train whistles blow their horns on five different railroads located within 3 miles of my house. When a freight train rumbles by the house, I can feel the vibrations. We live with it and enjoy it! IT IS AMERICA AT ITS FINEST.
WELCOME CN AND EJ&E!!!!!!

Flood where you at? Did you come to Gary? Guess not. Well since my last post even more jobs have been given away and when i say given i mean the CN has raised the prices so dramaticly that the customers are goin elsewhere. Ive got almost six years in and am close to being laid off alongwith many others. I hope Hunters granddaughter sees this and reevaluates her opinion on her grandfather. Just dont understand throwin away money. The "J" made money fo over a 100 years and Hunter is giving it away. Welcome big business you jackasses!!!!!!!!!!

all of you EJ&E employees better get can insurance as fast as possible. if you dont have the lifetime job aggreement in your contract because you tyoo a higher raise in pay and larger back pay or your union did not look at the other local cn contracts then you are going to be laid off and the cn does not bring anyone back. Inreguards to the comment of losing custumer out their. the cn has no desire to do local industry work, it is non profitable and a delay on the main lines. the cn is only interested in moving large volums of freight. on the wc side between antioch and forest park we had 30 industrys now we have a part time local with 6 industrys. good luck, and prepare you/family for layoof or termination of your employment

Ha, but yet you agree with the CN...Well I can tell you this as i am a NIMBY i guess, transtar (EJ&E takes car of track and equipment. Canadian National gets a 2 out of 1-10. I worked for the Chicago Central and Pacific for many years later Illinois Central...Billions were dumped into the Iowa division in the CC days lifting slow orders, track defects, and washouts along with bridge up dates...CN runs them untill the derail as you can see is what is happening on the CC and WC lines. CN runs them untill the track is beat to hell. I would have rather have seen a private corp. or bank buy out the DMIR, MISSABEE and EJ&E. The big derailment is coming my friends just like what happened in rockford last night except this time it will be on J tracks. us in the suburbs will not be so lucky...Oh yeah if you dont like train traffic why the hell do you live in one of the biggest rail capitals in the US and push onto us suburban people. I live in westchicago, i deal with 95-120 trains going east and west a day, now i gotta deal with crybabys like you that push for 60 to 70 north and south (some areas on the J line) Thankyou, do the letters FO mean anything to you. I have 23 years in the rail industry I have to tell you your putting more EJ&E guys at the unemployment lines than keeping employeed. CN Wisconsin crews work those lines... nice job...
