on public works in general and highways and bridges in particular. If they had any clout, they would have brought money and jobs to the area. They would have earmarked some overpasses. Instead they tried to pass bills into laws that were thinly disguised attempts to stop the CN deal. Talk is cheap, sponsoring bills is cheap, both of these take no clout to do. Getting money sent to fund projects in your home districts is something else again.

Um... Durbin was too busy (along with Barrington resident Melissa Bean) maing sure smoking was banned in restaurants, bars, and Illinois casinos to really get too involved in the "fight". And in the end, the sun rises in the east, trains roll, and Illinois loses close to $300,000,000 in revenue to neighboring states.
