I read that Arkansas Gov. Beebe said the state is currently working with a group of private investors to buy the El Dorado plant from Pilgrim's Pride. Hopefully the Clinton plant will be sold next. Hang in there growers, there may be hope yet for reopening the Clinton plant.

x-Worker,you are absolutely correct in your assumption that Pilgrim's Pride isn't going to sell anything unless forced by the bankruptcy court. The deal supposedly made with the Douglas Ga. and El Dorado, Ark. facalities is nothing short of a sham. Pilgrim's Pride has already began to thwart the possibility of the sale of the facalities to any potential buyer. Pilgrim's Pride agreed in mediation with the growers to put the two plants up for bidding with the growers in exchange for the opposition to the idling of those plants to be dropped. Well, it seems that Pilgrim's Pride has gone back on the deal now that the motion the growers had in court has been halted. Pilgrim's Pride can't be trusted to keep their word or honor any of their commitments. To put in bluntly, they are liars. Boycott Pilgrim's Pride products.

What is the status of the lawsuits filed by growers at Clinton and other places before the bankruptcy? Do those lawsuits keep going or does the bankruptcy put a stop to them?

There was a small article in the local Clinton newspaper this week about an attempt to reopen the processing plant in Clinton. A business owner stated that the hatchery and feed mill in Atkins, Ar. and the Clinton plant are for sale for 15.5 million dollars.
The business owner was working on a development proposal for the reopening attempt. Seems like a pipe dream to me, but you never know.

I haven't heard much about the growers in the Clinton area since this mess started. I just know they have been suffering longer that any of us that have been terminated. I have heard that some of Pilgrim's Pride facalities have been having a very hard time holding onto their growers in other areas that are in the same area that Tyson has operations. The growers are afraid that Pilgrim will do the same thing to them that they have in other areas and are frantically trying to switch to Tyson. I can't help but to think that ole Bo is going to have a tough time convincing anyone to invest everything they have in order to raise chicken for him anymore. I hope Bo has to eat his own damn chicken. BOYCOTT PILGRIM'S PRIDE products.
