What do you suggest? Do we bombard our congressmen and senators and governors? I know that won't help but if we ALL do, maybe. Whatever it will have to be everybody working on it and not just a few. The lawyers are working hard I think but the PEOPLE need to get going also. There has not been much in the newspapers or television news about the plight of the growers. That is one thing that needs to be done. Some people do not even know what is going on with the growers. People need to know that the growers have lost everything while Bo and company keep getting rich.

When Pilgrim's Pride was hit with the KFC slaughter house video their stock fell 10%. These large companies or corporations tremble in fear that bad publicity will adversely affect their stock prices. Somehow the poultry growers plight should have been more exposed to the public. Not very many people outside the poultry business is even aware of the treatment growers received. Hell, the growers can't even get the attention of their elected officials until they are up for re-election. I don't buy or eat ANY chicken.

How about a class action lawsuit not against pilgrims pride, but against bo pilgrim personally and all the polititions that he has been paying off for years now. These people need to be stopped. This should include all the closed plants and people that lost their jobs and all the closed down growers. ( Let us,then,Fellow citizens, unite with one heart and one mind.Let us restore to social intercourse that harmony and affection without which Liberty and even life itself are but dreary things) Thomas Jefferson.

The reality of the situation for poultry growers from the very beginning of this mess that was created by BAD management decisions is that NO ONE is listening. Bo Pilgrim runs around handing out $10,000 checks to Texas state legislators to influence their votes and basically pays off federal prosecutors to drop their investigation into their use of illegal immigrants. Pilgrim's Pride has used their high flying lawyers to circumvent the law and continues to go unchecked. But it is not just Pilgrim's Pride that has exploited growers for years. The ROI for the poultry integrators is around 16% while the ROI for growers is 4% or less. The primary reason for this unequity is the high paid excutives and their bonuses. These large integrators have figured out just how much they can pay growers in order for us to barely survive and have no intention of ever paying anymore. What most people don't know is that the financial institution that orchestrated the ill-fated Gold-Kist acquistion, that propelled Pilgrim's Pride into bankruptcy, was none other than Lehman Brothers. Ain't it ironic!! Growers need to continue to bombard the local, state, and federally elected officials about the dire situation that ALL growers and former growers find themself. The indifference of prosecutors and elected officials is unacceptable. To let Pilgrim's Pride use their lawyers to "muddy the waters" in respect to the intent of the PSA only reaffirms the idea that our elected officials are on the side of these large corporations. Sen. Blanche Lincoln is the chairperson of the Senate Agricultural Committee and seems to be totally indifferent to the plight of independent growers. As a matter of fact, growers in southern Arkansas haven't seen or heard anything from her until now, re-election time. These politicians need to be reminded of who put them in office. If the laws already in place are not going to be enforced then we need new ones that high paid lawyers can't skirt around. The reversal of the 5th Circuit decision in Texas is a prime example of Pilgrim's Pride lawyers twisting the true intent of laws already on the book. WE must holler and we must holler LOUD in order for anyone to hear our cry.

The growers need to start picketing McDonalds, Applebees, or Brookshires (any establishment that buys Pilgrim's Pride products) in their area. Let those who use Pilgrim's products know that it will adversely affect their business. With the present economic situation, no one want to have people picketing their business and hopefully they will stop using Pilgrim's product. It worked to a certain extent with the animal rights group in California when the KFC video made headlines. This group started picketing Kentucky Fried Chicken and KFC started purchasing Tyson to avoid adverse publicity. Pilgrim's Pride stock fell 10% after this video came out public. The growers, in order to acheive anything from this company, must become a thorn in Pilgrim's Pride side. Start picketing these restraunts and food stores that use Pilgrim's Pride products and these establishments will start looking for other sources to supply their poultry.

Maybe? I don't think there is much hope for the El Dorado area growers with the latest refusal by Pilgrim's Pride to sell this facality.

We will get the DVD "The sharecroppers" on . We will get the message out their. The internet is the key to broadcasting the plight of the farmer to the nation. No farmer can trust Pilgrims Pride. One thing that the different integraters have really achomplished well is causing one farmer to distrust the other farmer, pitting farmer against, farmer. It is one of their tactics that they have used to their great advantage over the years. There is no organization that I know of that truly is for the betterment or help of the American Poultry Farmer. As soon as an organization gets large enough, someone with strong ties to poultry integrators somehow seems to gain control, and it then becomes usless for promoting the true concerns of poultry farmers.
