Of course they are cutting jobs in the USA. These jobs just went to Brazil where they work for nothing! Additonally there are NO laws that will protect the environment. There are NO laws protecting the workers either. Pilgrims Pride will feed the Brazilian chickens any thing and then they will be sent back to us to consume!

Does anyone else besides myself believe that they are in the process of winding down operations in
El Dorado and will leave within six months?

Yep. They are in serious financial trouble, and are probably on the verge of bankruptcy. If they declare it, who knows what will happen.

No more chicken? Seriously, I feel bad for the chicken farmers that have made a living here for so long. How is this going to affect them?

The company has entered into an extended credit arrangement today, allowing it to continue to borrow money. Plants in Clinton, Ark and Shreveport have been idled, with the total job losses now at 2,300.

So what has become of the 700 people in Eldo who have been cut?

So far it looks like everything Pilgrim's does is legal. They have ruined the lives of more people than I can even count and gotten by with all of it. Just declare bankruptcy and you can sit back and laugh at all the people you have hurt.

It is a shame the manner in which Pilgrim's Pride has treated it's employees and the independent growers in all areas of the country. Has anyone noticed that they haven't shut down any facalities in Texas? Wonder why? It's maybe because that is where ole Bo Pilgrim lives and doesn't want to destroy the lifes of those he lives near for fear of some sort of retaliation. There are countless lifes that have been turned upside down by this company and now it is time to turn Lonnie "Bo" Pilgrim's life upside down. BOYCOTT PILGRIM'S PRIDE products. What a shameful legacy Bo Pilgrim has left. There will be many people that leave this world thinking that Bo Pilgrim was the devil in the flesh.

The employees were told countless different times that they were not productive. They did nothing to change there performance. You ask why are the Texas plants aren't closing maybe you should ask yourself about their job performances. Maybe they are more productive and maybe the give the company a little extra. After all that is what all companies want. It wouldn't matter who owned the plant if the workers are going to half ass it and hide behind their unions this will be the outcome from any company. People in this country need to stop blaming everyone for their own performance.

It was hard to be productive when all of the equipment at the plant was worn out and outdated. they would not fix anything or replace things that were broke. they spent all their money on plant in texas
