Just wait until our county looks like Dimmock, Pennsylvania. or Dish, Texas. Or numerous other areas throughout the United States that have had their water completely ruined. The money isn't worth your children and grandchildren suffering. The government has JUST started studying the health effects of hydraulic fracturing, and that study won't be complete until the end of 2012. Gas companys are smooth talkers and have money to persuade. Hopefully we won't prove to be what they're betting we are- Hillbillies who haven't done our research.

are you guys serious, this drilling method has been used for 50 years in other states with no issues.

perhaps you should have a read of the numerous "debunking gaslands movie", you will then see that it is basically a ficitional movie.

With the EPA not renewing coal minning permitts we have to have a source of energy. Wind and solar technology is not here yet, too expensive and unreliable. Let's live in the real world people.

Better make darn sure that in the lease, you're not signing away mineral rights to your land as well as gas drilling rights. If you do sign away mineral rights, they can come in and mine your land until every last mineral has been removed from the place. This means digging a 2 mile deep hole where your land is(or was).

1. Mr./Mrs. "gas is great," that is completely false, and you have no sources to back it up. Sure fracturing has been used for quite some time, and has created numerous problems. Perhaps you should've read Josh Fox's response "Debunking Debunking Gasland." Debunking Gasland was done by an industry rep, as are all of the other reports saying that this information is wrong. When geologists not related to the gas industry start coming out refuting things that have obviously happened and are continuing to happen, I guess then I'll listen.

2. Mr./Mrs. "Worry about real things," what real weapons are you talking about? As far as food shortages..I'm pretty sure you shouldn't eat meat or vegetation that has been contaminated from WATER.

3. Mr./Mrs. "no one here," Energy and productivity aren't as important as life it's self. If you really think so, I suggest you get a grip.

So Worry about real things,
Many things have changed about Carroll County since I joined the military 19 years ago to serve my country in times of WAR. Yet,the one thing that kept me going was the fact that my home town was a place I knew I wanted to raise my family. After years of living from base to base moving my children from school to school I reminded them it was my civil duty, and soon we would be moving HOME. I have had the chance to see and meet people affected by selling their land and heath to natural GAS for the mighty dollar. There are affects and the cancer that(the almighty dollar)speaks of are real. My wife cut off her hair 2 years ago and donated it to a little 10 year old victim of cancer who lived by one of the wells. Are you serious about the real things ??? The future of our children is serious! Take a look around and look at the world it's getting harder to hold onto the small towns of America due to the mighty dollar. I understand that there aren't any jobs back home like there were when I was growing up, but that's because we don't make anything anymore we just consume. So I guess it's ok to consume Carrollton for the better of the whole. Keep your gas money ...It's as unsafe as war and weapons........I hope my town thinks twice before they do this .One year till I come home here's praying for everyone to do the right thing.

HAVE ANY OF YOU EVEN BEEN ON A RIG FLOOR OR A FRAC SITE.BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAFETY ON THESE OPERATIONS.AND FURTHERMORE THERE IS NO PROOF OF CONTAMINATION BY THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY IN ONSHORE DRILLIN. THE ONLY PROOF IS THAT THE ENERGY THAT POWERS THE VERY COMPUTER YOU ARE LAUNCHING YOUR LITTLE ATTACK WITH IS POWERED BY OUR INDUSTRY IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER I THINK IF YOU DONT WANT DRILLING TO GO ON YOU NEED TO UNHOOK YOUR HOME FROM THE GRID AND DONATE YOUR CAR AND LIVE LIKE WE DONT EXIST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF THE HARD WORK DONE BY MANY TO SUPPLY WITH THIS ENERGY.
AND BY THE WAY CHESAPEAKE COUNTRY IS RIGHT, GO BIG BLUE

It is absurd to think that hydraulic fracturing is directly linked to water issues in Texas and Pennsylvania and if one were to simply read into the matter this would be evident. I saw the GasLand documentary and frankly some of the contaminated water sources we were shown in Pennsylvania were probably caused by Oil and Gas companies, however, not by the fracturing method. The streams they show in the film show dead wildlife, etc., but this is most likely a NEGLIGENT operator that improperly disposed of drilling fluids - not from a fracturing process that occurs 5,000+ feet beneath the treatable/potable water basin in the area.
