Full story: Baltimore Sun

The "grilling" meted out by lawmakers to executives of Constellation Energy Group flowed in exactly the wrong direction .

It would be nice to see lawmakers be held accountable for some of their mistakes. I realize hold the ultimate power in our ability to vote someone else into their position, but the same people are voted in time and time again. There needs to be another measure of accountability. any ideas?

What a dumb letter. The power executives have no oversite responsibility for the legislators; clearly the legislators do have responsibility for the power companies. That said, the legislators have a responsibility to know what they're talking about and not waste the power company people's time. They should also be forming good public policy....and that is the core of everyone's real complaint, that they formed horrible policy when they deregulated the industry, and compounded it by further actions. Preventing the sale to FPL was not necessarily bad, unless you are a BGE stockholder (I am) and upset about their recent price/sale. No one told Mayonnaise Shattuck to not attempt to find another deal after FPL cancelled; why that is all blamed on the legislators and O'Malley is funny. Mayo and FPL acted like little children when they did not get what they wanted when they wanted it. Turns out that was a better deal for stockholders....but perhaps this Mid American will be a better custodian of the power grid? That is very unknown at this point.

I don't know if the genie can be put back in the bottle now.
