Just another HUGE misuse of the police powers in the state of Md.! It is no wonder why so few citizens have any respect for the police that way they abuse their powers when there are so many other seriuos crimes they could and should be investigating. I wonder hoe many rapes and murders occured during the period of time the sidewalk protestors were being spied on? WHAT A JOKE OF A POLICE DEPT>SECOND ONLY TO BALTO CITY!

It's easy for you to dismiss the groups under investigation as "threatening as tofu" as we speak. Don't forget that many groups like these have violent pasts. I also question why the meeting would have been stopped if an a policeman was to attend. What is there to hide if its all peaceful poetry reading and bongo playing? A group that was unconcerned about the legality of it's proceedings would welcome anyone to sit through a meeting or two.

Well you know the police are in constant fear for their lives and would never undertake any activity that may in any way put them in conflict with anything threatening.

Two comments:
1. Don't the police have anything else to do?
2. A totally incoherent column that added nothing to the issue.

Police everywhere have become an embarassment to themselves. A bunch of Tackleberry wannabes. If they want to play cloak-and-dagger, they can join the CIA. All police at all levels really need to work on their public relations. Instead of working for paranoid politicians who are afraid something bad might happen and they won't get re-elected, the police need to go back to serving and protecting.
