The State should move to buy BGE (including all of the former BGE power generating plants) from Constellation or to leverage that BGE and the power plants be split off and go back to being a state regulated utility.

Yes, because the wonderful state of Maryland is extremely capable of efficiently running an electric utility!!!

Perhaps Mr. Shattuck can tap into the millions from his past years' salary and bonuses to help out his ailing company.

This is why they called it a utility. Another great job by the private sector. The state of Maryland could run this better that Shattuck.

This is what Mr. Shattuck does. I was there at Alex Brown. The plan has been in place for awhile, the lawsuit against the state last year was the first jab in his kiss of to the state. The decrease in the stock value only served to accelerate his plans and land the KO.

Perhaps the state of Maryland should sue Constellation Energy a few more times so that their stock price wil rebound and they realize Maryland is a business friendly state.

Does anyone think that if Constellation is bought out, it will be a better deal for Maryland than the offer from Florida Power & Light? Thanks Maryland Democrat Legislature and MOM for costing Maryland investors & taxpayers big time.

It's so nice that the People's Republic of Maryland helped sued CEG into this fire sale.

Good going DEM's maybe we can all work for the state and live in communes too.

Maybe if the merger with FPL went through the company would have been able to weather this. In the end though it's going to cost Maryland more money, a loss of jobs, and the loss of a powerful company in downtown Baltimore. Way to go O'Malley.
