What happened is no surprise when you put a banker in charge of a utility. They were overleveraged. They knew it before September NO DOUBT!

can anyone offer an explanation of how the accouting operation of a trading desk could lose track of the collateral requirements - they should all be fired and since this happened on Shattuck's "watch" and he is the CEO -- he doesn't deserve a penny in compensation

Obama's "spread the wealth" seems to be in place already. My wealth was re-routed to Mayo. Maybe Mayo will at least thank us all.

Especially since during the news conference on Sep 12th, when the stk was at 58, Mayo restored our confidence. That's the last time I'm trusting any CEO!

It's good to know I helped pay for that Caves Valley membership. Do you think if I showed up at Caves that they'd let me play?. Now I feel much better. I can't even afford Longview these days!

This Constellation situation probably has nothing to do with O'Malley or Obama but is there a way we can blame them for this?

"This Constellation situation probably has nothing to do with O'Malley or Obama but is there a way we can blame them for this?"

No, because blame can be directly laid at the feet of the 'completely gut government regulations' Republican philosophy.

Those idiot Republicans who wanted to get rid of every government regulation on the books.

Those stupid Republicans who followed the 'government IS the problem' philosophy of RRR and Grover Norquist.

Are you on crack?

The Democratic socialist dictatorship of Maryland created this mess. Democrats in Maryland passed all the deregulation legislation. Maryland Republicans had nothing to do with it. All this was passed even before Bob Ehrlich became governor you idiots.

Once again, Sun writer Jay Hancock is in over his head and misses the most important point of this story.

Gov. O'Malley and State Democrats turned down not 1 but TWO BETTER MERGER proposals for Constellation that would have prevented this mess, saved jobs, lowered energy costs for Marylanders and saved a Fortune 500 company in Maryland.

Of course Mayo Shattuck is at fault here too, but Maryland's anti-JOBS State Legislature & Governor O'Malley are equally if not more to blame as well as Gov. Paris Glendenning and his cronies.

Republican Gov. Bob Ehrlich offered a solution that would have SAVED Constellation Energy and the jobs of even some of my relatives, but all you you liberal idiots voted him out of office for this fool O'Malley who's f'd the whole thing up and now O'Malley has a lower than 30% approval rating, people are hurting and getting laid off, and Maryland is losing jobs.

Are you better off now than you were a few years ago under Gov. Bob Ehrlich Marylanders?

Put blame where it belongs please and vote these people out of office next time around DAMNIT!!!!

Schaefer and Strohminger automotive group is the next dog to die! It is currently being shopped for a new buyer! The entire auto group is for sale!! They are dying. They cannot compete with such bloated operating costs. If you work there, start looking for a new job TODAY!! Spread the word to everyone you know.

He already has. He's made sure there's an ample supply of Vaseline in area drug stores.
